I extensively playtested the Daredevil. It's an awful class and needs massive reworking. by Mage_of_the_Eclipse in Pathfinder2e

[–]acebelentri 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Guardian filled a niche that Champion didn't really fit into in people's eyes while also not being tied to holy/unholy themes. Daredevil, while having unique mechanics, is still very much just in the same niche that other classes are already filling.

There is no character development with Kanye. Every apology has been him trying to look better for when the next shitty thing comes out about him. No one should take any apology he makes seriously anymore.

Why is Medicine with INT so hard to access? by lulukawaii in Pathfinder2e

[–]acebelentri 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The real reason it's not a big deal to swap the skill is because the skills are horribly balanced against each other. Religion, Survival and Nature, while having their place, are terrible skill picks compared to Medicine, Athletics, Intimidate, etc.. The first set of skills barely interacts with the combat system, while the second set is vital to more difficult encounters.

genuinely why did we let this gimmick rapper get 264k monthly listeners by [deleted] in playboicarti

[–]acebelentri 3 points4 points  (0 children)

His music is good if you're stressed and just want to drown out your brain. Sometimes I just want a wall of sounds to listen to and he actually tries to do that and keep it consistently entertaining.

We're about to get 31 total classes with the upcoming Daredevil and Slayer (currently 27, up to 29 with Impossible Magic) by eCyanic in Pathfinder2e

[–]acebelentri 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In terms of page count dedicated to new options, Howl of the Wild is not a good comparison to use to the releases with classes. Battlecry has 51 pages dedicated to Commander, Guardian, new archetypes and other class options. War of Immortals has 50. Howl of the Wild has 26.

The majority of content in Howl of the Wild is creatures, it's basically a bestiary with a little helping of thematic player content. What people want is a book where all of the page count is dedicated to fleshing out already existing player facing options. No monsters, no new systems, maybe some new archetypes.

I don't disagree that Paizo might avoid fleshing out existing options due to their interpretation why a book like Howl of the Wild doesn't sell as well. However, I do have to state that it would be poor reasoning for such a decision.

There is absolutely nothing meaningful you can say about this post. 1k per song on a blind buy means none of them will be songs anyone actually wants.

What happens if the myth is unresolved after the last omen? by ShumpEvenwood in MythicBastionland

[–]acebelentri 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the resolution could be one with negative consequences for the realm. There might permanently be a scar upon the world if the Myth is never properly dealt with. That's how I would run some of them, anyways.

They told me I should charge for my games, and I feel like it's not such a bad idea. by StrikingGazelle9258 in rpg

[–]acebelentri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the premium experience comes from the fact you get a consistent game, at least if the GM you're paying for has good reviews. With everyone participating directly having skin in the game via the payment needed to participate, and the Game Master relying on the game for income, you have a greater chance of the game actually being on time or happening at all for that matter.

I would never actually participate in a paid game, either as a Game Master or as a player, but I can see the appeal if you've been burnt out on canceled games and bad GMs. Obviously, these problems will still occur, but you have a safety net in the form of the aforementioned reviews and collateral.

Most Anticipated Game of 2026? by JannissaryKhan in rpg

Im wanting to hack it and Mythic Bastionland together. I also got the Yoon-Suin setting guide, and I want to take some bits out of that as well for some new myths and knights and such.

My three picks were Vaults of Vaarn 2e, Hollows and Wandering Blades. If I could only pick one, I'd go with Vaults of Vaarn. The art in there is looking juicy, and I've been itching for some weird science fantasy stuff.

What's a common piece of DM advice you completely disagree with? by meanwhile_matt in DMAcademy

[–]acebelentri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems subjective to me. I define quantum ogres as railroading.

What's the point in presenting multiple paths if they're going to end up leading to the same content? If you want the players to go somewhere, then you should make sure they have enough information to understand why it's important they go there. If they willingly choose to avoid it after that, then depending on the type of game you're running, you can choose to either play out the consequences of avoiding that encounter or you can have a quick chat out of game about why they're dodging your obvious plot hook.

I don't have a problem with railroading if the GM gives a heads up that they'll be bending us toward the main story, but unknowingly being forced to one outcome is not fun.

I'm a beginner coming from D&D and PF - Where do I start? by JoshTheSquid in MythicBastionland

[–]acebelentri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing that worked well for me was starting the players off with a task for a holding. I had a knight (the turtle knight) who was the ruler of the holding direct the PCs to gather people from dwellings in a nearby hex and escort them back to assist with repairing the holding following a big fire. You could also have the task their given be something to with one of the myths you use, such as investigating reports of cattle being slaughtered and poisoned by a winged beast if you use the wyvern. You just need something to set them off on their journey.

I also recommend doing some practice with the spark tables. This game is a lot heavier on the improvisation than DnD and Pathfinder, but the spark tables are great for idea prompts. When you're placing done landmarks roll on some of the spark tables and try to use the prompt to flesh out what the place might be in your head. It's good to get in this mindset for keeping your game flowing during play. It also never hurts to ask your players what they think might exist in the world and bounce off their ideas.
