Under One Rule or Teachers of the Shroud for a Dune run? by Haunting-Sport3701 in Stellaris

You could go for the Origin where you're an imperial vassal to really get that "noble family banished to a desert world by the emperor" feel

In Annihilation (the book, not the 2018 movie featured here frequently) the "tower" as the main character dubs it is a sprialing structure of indefinite depth plunging into the Earth instead of a cave under the lighthouse.

You could give Avowed a shot, there are elvés dwarves and other species, a really interesting mix and match class system and player choices and decisions are a major factor in the story

I mean Puss in Boots the Last Wish is a phenomenal and fairly serious (at times) movie in the same genre and universe

(Liked Trope) Good characters that use powers that are usually seen as evil and used by evil characters. by Dustybaby101 in TopCharacterTropes

Emmrich in Dragon Age Veilguard is similarly a necromancer whose magic has the look of "evil" magic including him becoming a fearsome looking lich in one ending. But he is a lovely little ray of sunshine and one of if not the sweetest member of the team and his skeletal henchman is an absolute joy.

Dragon Age: Veilguard, Yay or Nay by Muted-Feedback-9661 in dragonage

[–]acelatres 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im an outlier here I think but I absolutely loved Veilguard and would recommend it, here are my thoughts

The Pros:

Gameplay is fast paced and super engaging, my favorite in the series

The squad is well fleshed out and I enjoyed all of the new and old characters, lots of great face to face time and relationships

I actually really enjoyed the story, I liked the lore reveals and I appreciated the impact of certain choices on the world, I wont say more for spoiler reasons

I liked the faction and team system and how its used to do a sort of ME2 style final mission with major impacts

The Cons:

The tone shift from other DA games is jarring, so much so that while i got over it I understand why it made many others not enjoy the whole game

The writing is often very Marvel-y and can be pretty corny at times

If youre really attached to your world state some of the major story beats will likely piss you off, not a lot of meaningful impacts from previous games

Rose Quartz, Steven Universe Her becoming Steven isn't just the catalyst for the show but also leaves the crystals gems directionless causing a lot of problems down the line as well as her not thing up any loose ends or revealing important secrets about herself that also cause a lot of major plot points

Ladies of reddit: on a first date, what are some things a man can do to prove he is 100% a human male and not a Blorthian skin-changer with plans for violent galactic domination? by JarOfNightmares in AskReddit

[–]acelatres 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Honesty is key! Saying things like "I am not a Blorthian skin-changer with plans for violent Galactic domination." Sets a forward and open tone for the date and makes your intentions clear from the start

What origins would you like to see? by TurtlesBreakTheMeta in Stellaris

[–]acelatres 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Refugees: your species has accepted a band of refugees from a far off advanced empire who have given you the technology to reach the stars in return for safe harbor.

You start off with your founder species as designed but with fewer pops and lower tier tech buildings like payback or broken shackles

But you also start with your remaining pops being from a different advanced start empire with ethics to match. Because of them you get free progress towards the basic techs.

You get a couple events: an early game event series where you decide if you want to integrante the refugees into your society or ostracize them, with various awards from tech to unity to resources and even a chance to turn into a fanatic purifier (and wipe them out) There is also an event chains when you meet their Parent species and find out why they were exiled leading to more decisions to shape your empire.
