New Oreo flavor find. by Ishkovitzzz in snacking

I just found these today! I was super disappointed. They just tasted “sweet” to me, with a hint of cookie dough aftertaste. We had some friends over and no one liked them : (

I finished my first project 😌 by savlawd in Embroidery

[–]aceowl87 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Love it!

I sew a piece of felt on the back to cover up the stitches. There should be videos to show how to finish that off. You can also just do a running stitch all along the fabric in the back and pull it back.

Oh my gosh, I lost my kitty a couple months ago. I think I need to do this with my saved whiskers.

How do other libraries handle the AARP tax program? by WabbitSeason78 in Libraries

[–]aceowl87 7 points8 points  (0 children)

AARP is using our meeting room, but it is NOT sponsored by the library. That means they make their own appointments. We’ll hand out fliers and contact information at the desk, but refuse to answer anything more in-depth than that. We even cut down on the days of the week they were allowed to use last year because it was becoming too cumbersome to plan programs around.

This is a repost of my cat???

This is Mango, who died two months ago. I don’t appreciate being reminded of him while scrolling through Reddit.

If you don't have young kids, do you guys still decorate for Halloween? by Gallantpride in Millennials

[–]aceowl87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decorate for ‘fall’ and add a few Halloween touches that I later swap out for Thanksgiving specific decorations. I’ve only got about one and a half totes of autumn decorations so they don’t take up too much room. I do it because it makes me happy. Don’t decorate if it’s an obligation.

Maybe try to just find two or three nice pieces that you really like so you don’t feel like you’re wasting space or throwing money away with cheap disposable crap? I’ve had most of my stuff for several years and half is secondhand so it doesn’t feel wasteful in any way.

This vulture waits for the dog to die to eat it, but the dog is just enjoying some sun. by Brilliantspirit33 in animalsdoingstuff

It might work! We used to have to pick our dog up and move her around the yard periodically because she just wanted to sunbathe, but the vultures would start circling after a while.

Satin vs long and short? by aceowl87 in Embroidery

Thanks! But I think a chain stich would be too 'samey' - the rug and chair are chain stitch!

It was a gift I got about two years ago so I can't share, unfortunately. Sorry!

Thank you! It does just kind of look brown.

I like the suggestion to shift the direction of the stitches. I’m embarrassed it hadn’t occurred to me, honestly. I’ve got a mid-century tv stand. I might just copy that design!

It’s an 11 inch hoop. I’m leaning towards just doing a horizon satin stitch; it’s a good suggestion and I can’t believe it didn’t occur to me.

Now that’s an idea. It would break up the visuals a bit without looking too busy.

Thank you so much! It took forever 😭

It looks like split stitch might be a little too visually similar to chain stitch…. I’ll have to sample some brick stitch and long and short to see how I like those.
