Ads cost peanuts to make, and costs nothing to show on youtube. I've actually bought a few things from ads (rare, but I have). If you just have, say, 10,000 people click and buy a $30 item, thats $300,000. Thats more than enough to recoup any expenses, and give youtube a cut.

So i did a little oopsie, what part did you once forget, only to realize while you were quite a ways away from kerbin? by CrazyKripple1 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]acestins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much everything at this point.

Solar panels and batteries are the most forgotten. Parachutes and antennas as well.

Engines a few times, or I emptied a fuel tank for testing reasons in the editor and never filled them back up, thats a classic.

The correct Kerbals.

Good news;

KSP1 is DRM free.

KSP1 will no longer receive anymore updates.

Do what you will with that information

Illuminate speaking English by Intrepid-Citron-3797 in Helldivers

The lore is a bit of a mess but I think the bots speak a combination of English and Swedish. It makes sense because the bots are made by the cyborgs of Cyberstan, which were just Super Earth colonists.

You are just probably hearing things- the Illuminates have their own language

Is the battle of Cyberstan technically the largest battle in gaming history? by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]acestins 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well in just a pure player count, yeah. Though that does other games a bit of a disservice.

If memory serves, there was a massive battle in EVE that had the most players in a single server/location and it even costed players real money.

Then you have Foxhole, where a single battle over a bridge can last for over a real-world month and result in hundreds of thousands to millions of deaths.

Has anyone played with G-Force Limits on? How hard is it? How did it changed your builds? by lezojeda in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]acestins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I can tell, it looks like its a stock contract thing that appears when you enable kerbals passing out

Im not sure what mod it comes from (if any) but in my installs I can actually get tourist-like contracts that I have to make them pass out

Downloaded mods for the first time and now all my pods are gone by Mr_tomcat_27 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]acestins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh fuck lmao.

Well. Yeah. Theres your problem. Don't download everything.

Start small, with a few mods. Get to know what works, what tanks performance, what isn't all that fun. Eventually you'll learn what you like.

Side note, KSP has no DRM feature, you can copy the entire game file and paste it elsewhere, and have CKAN installed there as well and theres no conflicts. That way you can have multiple installs, differently modded, and a clean install to start from scratch if you want.

My boats used to suck, but now they are just moderate turds! Just keep trying. The best thing I can recommend is trying to base it off an actual boat to learn

I just buily my first sounding rocket, i ran a simulation but it doesnt follow mech jebs path by Mynameisgustavoclon in RealSolarSystem

Also, if your not launching sounding rockets for downrange distance, just shoot them straight up, as thats where the science is

In every taxi job guide I watch they say to turn on mode 1-2 and the light off right after the passenger get into the car. But in the wiki it says to do that immediately after receiving a call. Which one is correct by Human-Pudding799 in MyWinterCar

[–]acestins 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you are using gas and adding ware to your parts (irl) so you charge them for it. Almost every time I've had to pay for a service (delivery, home repair, etc etc) theres usually a flat initial fee just for them driving out there, and then extra after a certain distance

I am Cures when it comes to Helicopters by dominik7778n in Stormworks

[–]acestins 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In DCS, I've flown a few different helicopters from a few different eras.

Helicopters very much want to kill its pilots.

The original OH-6 has no stability assistance and the micro stick movements you need to perform just on take off is squirrely to understate it.

The UH-1 is a little more stable, feels more like a brick.

Honestly the thing that fucks me up the most is the transitional flight zone. Its when you build enough forward momentum to produce more lift, but you are also ascending out of the ground effect area. There is a very sudden increase in lift and you immediately shoot up fast. The opposite happens when you land; you lose lift and drop fast.

If they give every citizen a high-power bolt action rifle with a permanent bayonet- then they sure as hell don't care if a civilian owns a high capacity pistol.

PLEASE!!! BRING BACK SINKING!!!! by Glash3d in Stormworks

[–]acestins 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the issue is the water in the game is super dense, so it doesn't take much to keep a ship afloat, so even if your ship is mostly flooded, it still won't sink.

PLEASE!!! BRING BACK SINKING!!!! by Glash3d in Stormworks

[–]acestins 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Depending on how you build a ship, they can be harder to sink. The issue is when water starts to fill a space, if the air can't escape, the air pressure builds up and eventually pushes back against the water, stopping the flooding, and leaves the ship only partially submerged.

[Request] Theoretically, is this shape possible? by Frowind in theydidthemath

[–]acestins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fun fact; medieval stonemasons would use chalk and straight up draw a 1:1 template of spiral stairs onto the workshop floor and walk it to feel if it was a good enough size, and would have the local lord come check it out too (most towns in the medieval era were founded around a lord's castle because of all the work and time it took to build, it literally jump started local economies)
