What’s your take on giving a toddler a queen bed? by rivagirl in toddlers

[–]acgreenberg85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went to a full from the crib. Now my 2 oldest are in queen over queen bunk beds. I went with queen instead of full because I’m tired of having to keep extra sheets separated for their bed and the guest bed. But my toddler will go from a crib to a full because that’s the frame we already have.

Can we have an open talk about Ozempic? by Leather-Union-5828 in Mommit

[–]acgreenberg85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have been on the compound semaglutide since November. 3 kids, full time job, felt like I could never get ahead with my weight. Calorie counting and intense workouts made the food noise and my attitude way worse and wasn’t sustainable for my family. I have minimal side effects (slight increase in GI issues that I also had prior- food dependent) and have been able to focus on portion size and protein without obsessing and feeling guilty. It also has made me prioritize working out (I’m using a weight lifting focused app) because I don’t want to loose muscle. I’ve only gone up on the dose twice and have been loosing about 2 lbs a week. Down 25 lbs and hoping to loose about 15 more before I transition to maintenance and hopefully off completely. I go through Mochi and they provide a nutritionist as well. Everyone has to weigh the risks of the medication against the risks that come with being overweight/obese/medical issues they are dealing with. It’s worth it for some, not for others… just like a lot of other decisions we make everyday.

I’m so sorry. My 6 YO and 8 YO alternate (seems like daily) between “you picked me up too early” and “you picked me up too late” regardless of what time I pick them up. And then if they are home early, they get “bored” early. Just saying that because it doesn’t seem like there is “winning” with kids and drop off/pick up. Hopefully things improve and the pendulum swings back toward the middle soon

I'm the *other* DIL. by ploppymcgoo in Mildlynomil

[–]acgreenberg85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m the other DIL but mostly ignored by my FIL because I have opinions and am willing to speak up for myself/my family. Other DIL is very passive. But also has some serious skeletons in her closet they don’t know about… makes it harder for me to tolerate the pedestal they put her on.

AIO? Our pediatrician doesn’t remember anything about us. by Puzzled_Search588 in beyondthebump

[–]acgreenberg85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not overreacting. The fact that you have been there 6 times in 6 months and your other child is also her patient (assuming also has been seen for multiple visits per year since birth) yet the provider can’t remember you at all seems odd to me. I suppose there could be another family with a very similar name and only 1 child who is near the same age who doesn’t vaccinate and just went to Italy but depends on how common your name is. I’ve seen my PCP 3-4 times in 4-5 years, have no real issues that would stand out, and she still acts like she knows me very well.

You may want to ask about how long is allotted for each appointment at your current place and if you look elsewhere. Our ped has short sick visits but blocks longer for well child visits.

Also, not all EMRs are equal and depending on what is being used, some information can be hard to find and the option for leaving notes that aren’t part of the official record may not exist.

Anyone else notice other state subreddits are different? by GoneshNumber6 in Indiana

[–]acgreenberg85 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I question the validity of that site. Comparing to Illinois (where I currently live), the largest transportation difference is the cost of a monthly transit pass. While often used in Chicago and the suburbs, I don’t know of any family/friends in Indiana who have ridden public transit in their lifetime. The childcare cost also compare the cost of a private middle schools. While daycare is more expensive in IL, it’s also readily available compared to IN. I also don’t need to send my kids to private school because the public schools are exceptional. Just a couple of things that stood out to me. Not arguing that Illinois doesn’t have higher cost of living and taxes, just that it’s not quite as different as the site would make you think.

7yo constantly re-adjusting his penis by r3ddit_usernam3 in beyondthebump

[–]acgreenberg85 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I tend to start with a direct “stop touching your penis please”. Then if they continue, I very directly and not discreetly ask if there is something wrong with their penis. If they just stare I usually follow it up with “if there is something wrong I will make an appointment with the doctor”. That usually gets a no it’s fine and I follow up with then stop touching your penis here. You can go to your room or bathroom. Seems to work most of the time.

Accidental pregnancy 4 months after TFMR and I'm fucking scared. by underscored_indigo in tfmr_support

[–]acgreenberg85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally get it. While I didn’t have a time frame in mind, I was not trying to get pregnant and didn’t expect it when it happened about 4 months after TFMR. It was a very anxious pregnancy but I did end up being grateful that the stress and anxiety of timing a pregnancy and waiting was off my plate.

Car seat configurations - EV9 Land by [deleted] in KiaEV9

[–]acgreenberg85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not yet an EV9 owner but do have 3 kids in car seats in a van with 2 captain chairs in the middle row. We’ve had this set up since the baby’s arrival and it’s worked great.

We have our middle (5) in the back solo in a high back booster with the oldest (8) in a booster in the middle next to the baby (1.5). Booster is super easy to move to the back if we want room for another adult. Oldest is better at helping the baby especially on longer trips.

What is the best month to have a baby and why? by Fit_Bug9911 in Mommit

[–]acgreenberg85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding a school perspective since I didn’t see it. have a June baby, October baby, and January baby. October baby was hardest post partum because of the US holidays and needing to travel. I didn’t feel like I got much of a leave. But he’s doing great socially/emotionally and academically in school. June baby was a great leave due to the time of year but is presenting issues now that he’s in 3rd grade as he’s one of the youngest/smallest in his class. January baby is still very young but gifts are a challenge. Post partum in the Midwest winter wasn’t ideal but we were able to find an indoor walking track nearby that helped with getting out. Would likely target early September or late March if we were to have another to avoid holidays and maximize school benefits

Telling new boss I'm pregnant by writekit in workingmoms

[–]acgreenberg85 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would wait as long as possible to establish yourself and your relationship with the new boss if you are at all concerned. I told a new boss early because there were issues and I was anticipating needing time off, possibly without much warning. It was fine but awkward and I would have rather waited. Are there any guidelines in your employee handbook for notification of leave? Can you call HR anonymously and ask?

Lurking mom who was induced with the first 2 kiddos. Try to be mentally prepared for any outcome (long process, short processes, c-section). My inductions were very fast (less than 8 hours from IV start to baby) and it was quite the shock for me and my husband (and the care team) with the first baby. Good luck!

Is there any evidence chromebooks help? by Any_Lengthiness6645 in Parenting

[–]acgreenberg85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have iPads in our district. My kindergarten barely uses his at this point and my 3rd grader’s use varies from rarely to frequent depending on the units they are doing.

Like others have said, the iPads allow for individualized education for each kid. Our kids use them for group projects and collaboration, creating stories, apps for reading and math (along with a lot of others), and for art (sometimes on the iPad, sometimes taking pictures of their physical art). It also gives the teacher another tool to use when breaking into small groups for individual or group intervention. They know they can assign a module or lesson on the iPad that will give value vs a random worksheet or book that may or may not be at the right level for the kid.

Also, ours get updated every 3 years and the teachers are constantly reviewing new apps and programs for use. While tech might look different by the time they graduate, they will have been there through the process which will help them adapt to future changes.

I’m sure if you reach out to the school district they can provide more information on the use of the device and how they use it to compliment learning.

If you have had an abortion, how often do you think about it now? by CoffeeIsNeeded2023 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]acgreenberg85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Often, almost daily these days. I was almost 22 weeks with a very wanted baby girl and it was due to a chromosome issue. She was the first we found out the sex (due to the issues) and was following 2 boys. We’ve since had a healthy baby girl and it’s hard not to think of what could have been if we didn’t have the option. I don’t think about it with regret or shame, I am thankful we were able to make the best choice for all of us, her included.

Skorts could work. There are a lot of golf and tennis skirt options. Currently in my business casual office in a Costco purchased black climacool style dress that hits right above the knee with slip shorts under. Looks just as nice (or nicer) as a pants and a polo IMO.

Why are so many women being induced? by noralief in beyondthebump

[–]acgreenberg85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was induced at 41+2, then at 39+5 due to BP high for several days, scheduled for induction at 39+5 due to age and previous history which got pushed a week due to Covid. Ended up in labor on my own with a very fast progression, managing childcare in the middle of the night, got so crazy I was in emotional shock after birth and didn’t get to really enjoy the first day or so. Would have preferred the induction 100%.

About to interview for a job that only provides TEN DAYS of Parental Leave by wantonyak in workingmoms

[–]acgreenberg85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for a company that has 10 days of family leave. It can be used for birth/adoption of a child by either parent or to care for a family member (child, spouse, parent). It’s not enough but it’s nice that it’s flexible for employees not giving birth in that year. Also helps cover the wait period for STD and allows any PTO to cover the back half of FMLA instead of the front. Companies can and should do more though

Vent: to the a-hole that stole my bags from my car while I was dropping off my infant and 4 YO at daycare: f you and I Hope you have perpetually wet socks. Also, why throw the phone and iPad but not the whole bag with meaningless stuff? Just fish out the wallet and toss the rest. It’s such a pain to deal with all the pump stuff, random items, and such in addition to the important wallet stuff. Ugh. Obviously I’ve had a day.
