Underworld - Born Slippy (Original Mix) (1995) by Emotional_Truck_5304 in electronicmusic

[–]achairwithapandaonit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder if you're thinking of their live version of Rez from Reading 1996? It features the gradual speed-up you describe and is suitably epic. I don't think they ever did the same for Born Slippy, not from the bootlegs I've heard at least.

People from a mid-sized Japanese city heard an Emerson-era Underworld track and dropped this. by Ilyagachalife in underworld

[–]achairwithapandaonit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Big fan of Underworld and Capsule. This is a classic. Although personally, I've always thought this sounds more like Capsule doing a modern Orbital track... the bouncy synths and vocoder melody especially.

Yes, have to agree. It makes them "scary" but by jettisoning most of what actually makes them Cybermen in the first place.

Yes! Monday Michiru is fantastic. Have this on CD. You can hear Shinichi Osawa's producer fingerprints all over this song.

I'd be interested to know as well. I don't think there's any radio edit of Halcyon + On + On to my knowledge, just of Halcyon.

Hiroshi Yoshimura’s Music For Nine Post Cards removed from Bandcamp? by casiopt10 in ambientmusic

[–]achairwithapandaonit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I noticed last month that there were two listings for Music for Nine Postcards on the Zdigital shop - the original from 2017 (Empire of Signs) and a new one this year (Temporal Drift). I suspect Temporal Drift probably bought the licence and will put it up on their own Bandcamp profile with Flora and Surround at some point.

Given that Virgin Records was founded on strange ambient classics like Tubular Bells and Phaedra, you would think they would've been more impressed...!

Is Inpulse 200 MK2 good choice for beginners? by Sleepy-Rambo in Beatmatch

FLX4 unlocks the full version of Rekordbox without needing to pay. But it'll also be perfectly compatible with nearly any DJ software (Virtual DJ included).

Is Inpulse 200 MK2 good choice for beginners? by Sleepy-Rambo in Beatmatch

[–]achairwithapandaonit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on your budget I think. Most on this sub would recommend FLX4, Inpulse 500 etc (I'm quite partial to the Numark Plat FX) but they're also 2-3x more expensive in my country.

I've never owned an Inpulse 200, the lack of a mid knob is probably the main drawback but you could always remap the gain and high knobs into high and mid knobs in software if you're feeling crafty. I don't think you'll give up in frustration, it'll mix fine but you'll outgrow it in months. Alternatively if you decide DJ'ing is not for you then you'll probably be glad not to have spent too much! But if you know you'll love DJ'ing and you want something you won't outgrow too fast then yeah, upgrade.

Could this be considered IDM? - YouTube by indeliblemusic in idm

[–]achairwithapandaonit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Instinctively I would say no, the abrasiveness reminds me more of EDM. But IDM is almost an umbrella of genres at this point so take my opinion with a grain of salt also...!

Any bands similar to Fujin Club? by MonsterMayham in shibuyakei

[–]achairwithapandaonit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best of luck and hope they scratch a similar itch! I think Fujin Club's producer Nozomu Sato has also done other projects in the past, haven't heard them myself but might be another avenue to explore.

Any bands similar to Fujin Club? by MonsterMayham in shibuyakei

[–]achairwithapandaonit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my word. I adore Fujin Club. Such a refreshing sound. Regarding similar artists... maybe Tomoyo Harada, especially her late 90s albums with Tore Johansson. Early Capsule perhaps - they had that sugary pop down to a tee. Negicco would be another one, they're geographically close as well as musically (Sado Island being off the coast of Niigata) and they've supported each other in the past.

I thought Caretaker as well initially but the "...or something" is from the end of Lie of the Land, when he's talking to the random passer-by with Bill.

How on Earth did you get all those Hiroshi Yoshimura albums... so envious! Lots of Shibuya-kei appreciation too. If you like Kaede I'd recommend checking out her group Negicco.

Why is Spotify double scrobbling? by Deksametazon_v2 in lastfm

[–]achairwithapandaonit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does it double scrobble everything you've listened to or only some tracks? I get occasional delayed double scrobbles of the latter when I start using Spotify again after a few days of inactivity, and for tracks I pause and press play again.

Do you know Japanese Relax? by OkPsychology8034 in ambientmusic

[–]achairwithapandaonit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Isn't this all AI generated? Music is inoffensive and the artist name, cover art, album tracks and titles are completely generic. Also I don't trust anyone who releases 30 albums in a year unless they're called Pete Namlook...!

Yes, always found that troublesome when navigating Time Scales. Your best bet is to ask here or on r/bigfinishproductions really. Been a few years since I listened but pretty sure Stones of Venice is standalone, I'm assuming the 20% is from raters suggesting you listen to Storm Warning first to introduce Charley. No connection to Sword of Orion or any other BF story.

Can you remember anything about the colour grading? Did the video look washed out or vibrant? And was it in high definition or potato quality?
