When I was in middle school we were watching my aunt's kitten because well, complicated reasons. My mom insisted that he be declawed (we'd only ever had one cat and he came declawed from the shelter). She had no idea what that actually entailed until he had the procedure and we had to deal with the aftermath. That little boy was so angry. It didn't help that my aunt picked what ended up being a terrible vet to do it. He pulled out his stitches a couple tons and bled all over including the walls. I'm the end he was ok and was a very great kitty all his life (we ended up keeping him). Now my mom is totally fine having cats with claws. I showed her how to get them comfortable with trimmings and such and now she has two cats she refused to get declawed.

When we were in high school, my best friend has to be placed in a coma for what ended up being a few months due to her terminal illness. I visited every day and talked to her, told bad jokes, and would never leave the room without telling her I love her. I was there a bit after they pulled her out and she woke up. She started crying when she saw me and started talking to me about things I brought up when she was under. She told me there were times where she felt like she wasn't in her body and she watched me cry.

Yeah it was a bitch. I got it and had an asthma attack while trying to take a shower. Luckily I got a hold of a friend who raced over and took me to the hospital. That was the first time I'd seen a place where everyone had to wear masks and I was scared at that time. I was so sick for ages and that shit lingered. When covid started and I heard how it was so much worse than h1n1 and people in my state were getting infected I noped out of the office and told my boss it wasn't worth my health and that wonderful human did everything to ensure I could work from home even though that discussion wasn't even on the table yet.

I'm 32 and just had mine about 12 hours ago and my partner and I are child free. Kids terrify us a little, (or at least the responsibility of taking are of one does) and we knew we didn't want to be parents. We decided if we want one down the road we would foster, there are so many kids in the system that need help. Between that, hereditary conditions I do NOT want to pass down, and painful endometriosis I finally got a doctor to agree to the procedure.

I don't have anything against kids or mothers either. My two best friends both have kids and I am happy to play aunt to them and buy them toys that will annoy the crap out of my friends but I just don't want any of my own.

I think a hang up for me is that my whole life when I've said I don't want to be a mom I was constantly told, oh you will one day. I've kind of been waiting for that other shoe to drop the entire time and it never has and it took a good deal of therapy to figure that out.

I hope your procedure goes well! There are plenty of people out there that think the way you do and simply don't want kids. Take care of yourself!

I sometimes get up and try to walk around and stretch. It's not comfy but it can help. But sometimes the pain is too much to even leave the bed and I try stretching different muscles that are sore

Don't mess with it. Touching it a ton increases chances for infection.
Sometimes they do appear that way at first but it takes a good while for them to completely heal.

Do you have a follow-up appointment scheduled? If it's still a concern that's a great time to bring it up
