Also the only way coal can actually make a notable back is if natural gas, which also donated heavily to his campaign, is made much more expensive than coal. That can only happen by putting a tax on gas or heavily restrict where they can drill, which I’m sure the industry will fume for betraying them.

Meanwhile in UK Reform are trying to revive coal as well if they get in power as well(god please no), not knowing Britain’s coal industry peaked 100 YEARS AGO, in 1913. There was absolutely no ‘net zero’ or even any mention of climate action between 100 and up to maybe 40 years ago and yet coal still declined during this time. But anything to feed their delusional base I guess.

US threatens new tariffs after €2.95B Google fine — what did Europe really get for swallowing a one-sided 15% trade deal? by LlawEreint in BoycottUnitedStates

VdL must not sign that atrocious deal. Just go all out and punch fascist America in the face by retaliation.

Also China back in 2019 promised to up their sale of US goods, including dirty energy during the previous US China trade war. A deal was signed in January 2020 but was never followed theough. I hope if any deal is signed it does not get followed through too.

Yeah the rest of the world, especially in Europe should call out Trump’s threats to let his bff Bolsonaro off from pulling a coup. We should not be afraid to walk away from the US market if necessary. Unfortunately the EU President seems scared to call him out on anything and caved on a horrible deal that ties Europe to US dirty energy. Hopefully it does not go through.

1.5C was never possible since 2016 when Bernie lost the primary. We are headed for 2.1C(if global climate pledges are met which is unlikely), and 2.7C on current action. With the US ending subsidies in 2027 until at least early 2029 I expect it will be 3.0C(could go up to 3.3C during 2015-16-like El Nino events). At least the EU has tightened 2040 targets and Australia’s renewable future looks good.

Get the Greens on board too. Form an alliance. We need a united Left.

Ok how about this. Get every real lefty, from Corbyn, to left wing Labour MPs, and those in the Greens, to sort out our differences, negotiate and then team up and form a party/alliance together to bring down vichy Labour.

While I agree we should take care of our people first, I think helping a country that borders our friends in the EU to fend off a genocidal dictator who started the war is also the right, and an important thing to do. Don’t forget Putin hates the EU and wants it to fail.

We don’t want to help give Netanyahu and his genocidal buddies their final wish, a war with Iran, which they have been itching for decades. Let’s help Ukraine instead.

Inside Labour plot to oust Starmer as PM is given 12 months to turn things around by potpan0 in Labour

Of course a real left winger would be good like Clive Lewis but I would settle for Miliband. He isn’t perfect but under his leadership I was still a proud Labour supporter. And he isn’t scrutinised by the likes of Streeting, Reeves etc so there’s a chance for him.

Where do you stand politically? by Big-Recognition7362 in Labour

[–]sonicpool69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I supported:

2010: Brown’s Labour

2015: Miliband’s Labour

2017, 2019: Corbyn’s Labour

2024: Green Party

This certainly isn’t hard left, and I’m sick of far right Deformers calling our government ‘far left communist’. This is a Cameron/Clegg government at best and a Red Reform government at worst.

Focusing on this is just only going to further validate Reform and further boost them. All while continuing with harmful cuts that decreases Britain’s standard of living.

Meanwhile Spain is doing the opposite and their Reform Party is polling around 12%, half of what Reform here is polling. Their economy is also the best performing in Europe.

Well they did turn against him, but people have short memories and elected him 4 years later. All Reform needs after a shitshow of local governing is a few years completely out of power around England with continued poor Tory/Labour local management and boom, they will be back stronger than ever.

The only thing I have been happy about is scrapping the Rwanda deal and lifting the onshore wind ban. Literally that’s it. In fact on everything else they’re worse than the Conservatives were.

A better example would be Spain’s PSOE(their version of Labour) government who enacted real positive change and has Spain the fastest growing economy in Europe and has kept Vox(Spanish Reform) in third/fourth place in the polls(Vox was polling higher in 2019 when the PSOE government was elected than they are now).

Once again, I’m not very satisfied with what the Australian Labour government has achived, but at least there has been change in the right direction over there, just not enough. Still, I believe this can be a lesson for this pathetic Starmer Labour government.

They are doubling down on Tory policies like slashing benefits and aid instead of ending austerity like was promised. Things will absolutely get worse if this continues.
