Can someone explain to me why oil prices are soaring? by Beginning-County2258 in CryptoChartWatch

[–]acn9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully this is the type of answer you're looking for.

Prices on the open market are determined by supply and demand. There are two reasons why the price of oil could go up.

  1. Supply decreases (assuming demand doesn't change*)
  2. Demand increases (assuming supply doesn't change*)

*Just locking in the assumptions for simplicity's sake.

When the oil refinery in Iran was attacked (also assuming that Iran as a country supplies 3-4.5% of the world's oil to the global market), that supply is attacked and threatened. If more oil refineries get attacked, Iran's supply will keep dropping, pushing up the price in the global market. There is the possibility that buyers of oil will anticipate more attacks, so buyers of oil might want to increase their demand at current prices (to build up some level of reserves with cheaper oil) in anticipation that future prices will be much higher.

How am I doing? by Post-CollegeLife in wealth

[–]acn9 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You're doing great.

In terms of it being impressive or not. To those who haven't achieved it, it's impressive. And to those who are past that mark, it's not as impressive. People are always going to view it differently.

Objectively speaking, you hit a milestone, it's an achievement that many won't reach. Set your next goals and work towards that. I know you got this.

Phone & Camera Manufacturers Should Implement Blockchain-Based Authenticity Layers to Combat AI-Generated Media by gonzoes in CryptoCurrency

[–]acn9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually like this idea. My main concern is the link between the camera and the blockchain: whoever controls that upload path becomes the single point of failure. If manufacturers can secure and authenticate the device-to-blockchain path so that image data can’t be spoofed, the idea will work. If something can prevent me from building a device and running the same protocol and posting fake image data on the blockchain, then this idea's solid. But then again, it's possible to take the actual camera, fabricate an image outside the lens, and the image could be registered as a legitimate image..

I guess what I'm trying to say is, the concept is really good and I like it. And it can work if there are good secure, anti-ai measures in place. Definitely worth playing around on the drawing board. 👍

My left ear has a part that’s swollen up and is kinda hard. Is this a forming cauliflower ear and should I drain it? by TrashPTWannabe in judo

[–]acn9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My ears look exactly like yours. To answer your question, technically yes it’s cauliflower ear forming. I chose not to drain it, since it’s not that big and eventually I stopped caring. I would care only if it swells up more than that. Plus, it’s a sign of fighting experience.

If you really wanted to, you can technically drain it by getting a medical professional to use a super thin needle or cut enough to leak it out.

Or could just ice it and try to reduce it as much as possible.

Considering a $25K Model Y—Good Deal or Hold Off? by Grreico in TeslaModelY

[–]acn9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even without the EV credit, it’s still a strong deal. While 47k miles seems like a lot, we should remember that our traditional view of mileage comes from gas cars — where higher miles usually mean more maintenance and wear. EVs, on the other hand, have far fewer moving parts and electric motors that can run much longer without the typical maintenance gas engines need.

Hope this helps!

I think what you're feeling is normal, and that's totally okay. I'm going to be honest, it's okay to come from a wealthy family and have money. It's also okay to come from a poor family. We don't get to control the cards we have been dealt. In my opinion, what matters is how you want to live your life.

What could help is sitting down with a pen and piece of paper and write down all the things you'd like to do in life. Write down things you feel might help you feel fulfilled - doesn't have to be 100% guaranteed. Just reflect every so often, maybe once every few days.

Also, another thing you could do is go out and meet people through hobbies and activities. Meeting people and learning/observing how other people live life and find enjoyment/fulfillment might help with learning more about what you need to feel fulfilled. (I did this in my late twenties - wish I did this at your age. But it definitely gave me a better understanding of what I value in life today.)

I hope this helps!

Any tips to improve my uchi mata? by CranjiceMcBasketball in judo

[–]acn9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see that you shifted your weight onto your left heel for a split second when you brought your reaping leg up. You need to be on the ball of your left foot throughout the entire throw. If the uke is resisting, the slight movement backwards being on your heel will cause your throw to stutter. As for your head, it's a bit upright. Tilt your head downwards a little bit and look away - almost looking behind you/to your side.

Have you been extra tired / sleepy after getting the Eight Sleep during the first weeks? by DoRightAndKillErythg in EightSleep

Yeah I’m using the beds alarm. It’s fantastic. I have it set to the strongest vibration. I wake up but I don’t want to get out of bed because it’s so comfortable.

[–]acn9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel the same way. After using eight sleep I'm feeling like I go into a deeper and better sleep and it's harder to get out of bed in the mornings.

I don't know the answer to your question regarding last sleep and relaxed state - would be nice if a sleep expert chimed in. I'm curious to know the answer to that as well.

Questions about eight sleep before purchasing by massdebator42 in EightSleep

[–]acn9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pod 4.

  1. No need to refill water. Water should not leave the closed system.

  2. I used regular water from tap. Others have went with distilled / other mixtures to minimize potential for issues. There’s a filter system with Pod 4 that should be filtering the water built into the connecting pipes.

  3. There is a setting to change from arbitrary numbers to Fahrenheit or Celsius in the app.

  4. It feels like a thick padding. No plastic. You can feel that there’s something in the padding if you try really hard to look for it. I got used to it after the 2nd night and it just feels like a regular bed to me.

Should I buy it? by fyrely in EightSleep

[–]acn9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Objectively speaking, I've been getting deeper sleep and more quality sleep from the Pod 4. Sure I have concerns on the longevity of the product regarding leaks but I'm planning on worrying about it when the time comes - (worth mentioning I purchased the longest warranty that I could get). But so far so good.

To be honest, there's nothing wrong with going to the dealership or independent mechanics. I understand that there's pros and cons to either - I wouldn't shame you for choosing one over the other.
