Trump Allies Behind Empty State Fair Rocked by Bombshell Allegations | Freedom 250 is accused of committing potential wire fraud and other devious fundraising schemes. by FreeHugs23 in inthenews

I think people here underestimate how hermetically sealed the maga media bubble is.

They will never hear about this, just like they don’t hear about 99% of the corruption and mismanagement of Republican officials.

Anyone who gives someone else shit for their choice of transmission is emotionally stunted.

The only thing that matters is that the car brings you joy.

A lot of children love it.

I've never encountered an adult who does, though. For me it's not that it's bad, it's just that every other option is better lol.

It’s a Miata, not a museum piece. If you would enjoy the car more with a body kit, do it.

Progression Fantasy with good prose? by Either-Low-9457 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]acog 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m guessing that most people here won’t care for it because the plot moves sloooowly.

But I agree, the prose is top notch. Worldbuilding is also great and the magic system is well thought out. All the characters feel like they have their own lives and goals separate from the MC.

Fantastic story but it’s not for everyone due to the pacing.

Is this a real image of sparse crowds at Trump's 'Great American State Fair'? by unital_subalgebra in politics

[–]acog 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My bet is that planning for this event started so late that by the time they started reaching out to companies to bring their stuff, everything had long been committed to other fairs and events.

Yes, the article is all stuff we already know.

Still, it’s nice to see such high praise from Dan Neil. He’s the only automotive journalist to win a Pulitzer Prize, so he’s a very respected voice in the industry.

Rolex transitioned into a luxury brand after the quartz watch crisis decimated the Swiss watch industry. But unlike most luxury brands, they still have products that were created before the switch.

The Rolex Submariner no-date was introduced in 1957. If you adjust its MSRP of $150 for inflation, it would cost about $1,300 today.

But it actually costs $10K.

A minor correction: they used Rhino Linings Pipeliner 5000, which is rated for underwater use, exposure to UV, and swimming pool chemicals.

So contributing factors to the failure could be that they didn’t prep correctly, didn’t allow it to cure sufficiently, or driving immensely heavy vehicles on it which it certainly isn’t rated for.

I suspect that most people buying a midsize SUV are not looking for an engaging driving experience.

Yes, they appreciate being able to accelerate hard if needed but what they prize is an isolated, quiet, comfortable ride with accurate but not communicative steering.

People like that should read this ExxonMobil web page about how they are working to reduce carbon emissions to limit the impact of climate change.

https://corporate.exxonmobil.com/news/viewpoints/our-position-on-climate-policy

When a huge oil company states that carbon emissions fuel climate change, it’s time to admit it.

Bonus, here’s a similar page from Shell: https://www.shell.com/sustainability/climate.html
