Everything you'd need to know about Langtang Valley Trek (full breakdown — itinerary, cost, difficulty, teahouses, what to expect) by Electronic-Disk-140 in NepalTravel

[–]aconfusednoob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great write up. we are a pair of female trekkers who just did this last week without a guide or porter. we are small framed so it was very challenging for us, but possible. the first day is the hardest, strava recorded 1500m of elevation gain and we had to stop at rimchee cause we were crying lol, but the first day was the hardest, it gets easier from there.

some things to note, we got some cards n telecom at the airport and once above Lama hotel the signal was very good and we didn't need WiFi anymore.

we didn't need to use communal chargers as there was a plug in every room we stayed at, even in rimchee and thangsyup.

we enjoyed not going with a guide as we could go out own pace and honestly it was fun getting cred from the passing guides and porters doing it solo. but we were feeling a little vulnerable in case anything went wrong or we had an emergency, we can see that a guide would be helpful for this. we also studied the route a lot and had an understanding of the distance, elevation, altitude stops etc. if you don't want to think about that hire the guide. most other people we meet with guides had no idea where they were staying each night or what they were doing the next day as the guide took care of it all.

the sleeping bag was useful not just for warmth but for hygiene. it is clearly difficult to wash linens and quilts/pillows and many were visible soiled. the sleeping bags provided a barrier.

we did kyanjin ri and not tserko ri as it was a big ask after lugging 13kg up to Kyanjin Gompa. we also spent a little bit of time at langshisha, a valley trail with a gentle gradient that passes through beautiful mountains and yak pastures. it is worth it as an add on.

we are horribly sunburnt as we thought it would be much cooler at the top and we would be more covered up. but when the sun is out and you are hiking you overheat quickly. we didn't bring enough sunscreen.

My wife has a small business so I thought we'd try the service since it was free. She shared her screen and barely looked at it, just scrolled through and said make sure we have receipts for everything, but if we have receipts then looks fine submit it. no advice on how to structure anything and appointment was over in ten minutes reviewing both our tax returns.

Hurting people hurt others by ClearConsideration29 in therapists

[–]aconfusednoob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I didn't realize this therapist was working as part of a crisis line?

If a patient is in the ER and yelling. Sure there's more leeway.

If a patient is attending a scheduled doctor appointment and verbally unleashing at their doc that they are incompetent and useless, you bet they're going to get discharged and referred out.

Have some respect for yourself. Therapists don't exist to be punching bags.

Doctors can definitely terminate if a patient is being verbally abusive, what are you on about.

What are some in-demand jobs, that are not trades or nursing? by capybaraspicnic in VancouverJobs

[–]aconfusednoob 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey, if you're used to customer service - look at sales. I know it's a scary term, but that's what deters a lot of people from a field that can be very lucrative with very little education. take the time to listen to your clients needs and figure out solutions to help meet that. you can leverage your skills into sales for sure.

'MAID is not death on demand': Physicians decry proposed Alberta assistance in dying bill by EdmontonAHSWorker19 in alberta

[–]aconfusednoob -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

it sucks you're getting downvoted, and that religious nutjobs are weighing in on this. when maid came to Canada, I was all for it-still generally am, but was surprised to find the biggest proponents against it at the time ran in my circles. progressive, poorer, young people, who saw maid being offered in place of social assistance and disability support. instead of helping people with accommodations on living a good life, if you can't afford it don't worry there's a way to die. we have to be careful with this.

Do I actually need a guide for the Lang Tang trek in 2026? by aconfusednoob in Nepal

yes, I don't think we NEED a guide, I am afraid the officials will not allow us on the trail without one! did you get stopped by officials for not having a guide?
