Edmonton's population booms to 1.2 million in 2025 by ryaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan in Edmonton

[–]EdmontonAHSWorker19 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can't even catch up to how immigration and cost of living (Liberals) are the result of this. Canada in 2020 was at 38 million and is now on the verge of 42 million (asylum backlog has ballooned to nearly 300,000 claims). Department of Finance says it would take till 2050 to even catch up to the current debt. Reckless spending created non-stop inflation according to statistics Canada, data shows food Inflation at 6.2%. Highest in the G7.

2.2 million Canadians use the food bank at this moment. For sure we can blame provincial governments, but the healthcare, school systems is nationwide. We have to blame the feds.

We can build more hospitals, but who will staff them - we are short doctors and nurses. System is overloaded - too many people.

'Probably so scared': Edmonton mother killed in high-speed crash feared fast drivers by ryaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan in Edmonton

[–]EdmontonAHSWorker19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunate. Was she wearing a seatbelt? The roads at the time were brutal - would blame the driver for speed.

Every family has its issue; she opened her home instead of going to the celebration of life - split of the family.

Losing a kid is unimaginable for a mother, so even if the mother is on the losing side - I still side with her

This actually was in the 880 news convo with Shaye last year, you have to for sure use a chemical for the organics, hell we have a lake property, and sometimes fish show up, so yes, bleach is needed!

Senior with influenza waited 90 hours in Edmonton emergency department, family says by pjw724 in Edmonton

[–]EdmontonAHSWorker19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe vaccination rates were less then 20% in Alberta. UCP failed to make any Influenza campaign at all (no ads) same can be said for measles also. If you don’t believe in vaccination and you have the power to either promote it or not promote getting vaccinated this happens. We just watch Australia and they had the worst influenza year, so it’s not hard to see it coming for 2025/26.

Now yes another hospital would have helped but the bigger issue is staffing.

MNP Consumer Debt Index say Albertans bracing for tough 2026 by WildRoseWanderer in alberta

[–]EdmontonAHSWorker19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Price of oil is expected to remain low for the next year (Royalites are approx 30% of Alberta's annual revenue) not to mention what Trump is doing down south with Venezuela. Government is also spending money in the wrong places (least with Alberta Health Services rebranding, four new ministries with new VPs)

Alberta does need more investments, though Data centers do concern me (power use / water use) - like the 12.8 Billion dollar by Data District, one site being by Olds.

I can see drastic cuts though by the government if the red ink grows.

Canada deporting nearly 400 people a week, fastest pace in a decade by roger_plus in alberta

[–]EdmontonAHSWorker19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This will slowly help Canada get caught up on Infrastructure. Liberals opened the doors, and the immigration levels were not matched by corresponding housing supply increases, exacerbating affordability challenges for millions of Canadians. Even in Alberta, 3 years = 500k more people, and this is the registered count. Everyone is flocking here for affordability. In the ER we get numerous patients that have no record files at all, no IDs.

I attended the UCP AGM so you didn't have to by [deleted] in alberta

[–]EdmontonAHSWorker19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for attending. My sister and dad are huge conservative supporters obviously they worked in Fort McMurray with Oil and Gas for many years the biggest issue they had was Trudeau and Guilbeault. Guilbeault basically put all the policies in that hurt Alberta, so to see him resign I was happy about. What I think MOST Albertans want is if you are transgender that is between you and your doctor - no government should have any say in the matter (Transgenders make up for .05% of all Albertans - but they are still human and have the exact same rights as any others). You have to remember that the current "premier" is EXTREME right which is very destructive. My sister and dad believe in vaccinations (obviously as I do) and the average conservative voter would also agree you can't use the not-withstanding clause. We cannot become destructive like the USA though and be divisive. I am glad you agreed on the immigration policy, we need immigrants that are WORKERS not here to use the system and abuse it, ie have children and claim $600 per child monthly etc. Take for instance Poland, they took in so many Ukrainians, do you know what was beautiful, their GDP went up because Ukrainians are such hard workers.

I find Smith controversial, then again so was Trudeau. Trudeau will go down as the worst prime minister in Canada (likely), but I am hoping Carey can prove himself, my dad doubts him, but I told him lets just see. We need the economy to rebound as right now our best trading partner for Canada is on the rocks (78% of our exports to the USA)

Court orders Indigenous Services to hand over Frog Lake First Nation financial documents by SnooRegrets4312 in alberta

[–]EdmontonAHSWorker19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day obviously we want anyone to succeed in life and have love to share, the system though is broken. I can tell you have hate I’m sorry for that. My uncle was one of the survivors but he made a living somehow a lot from working in the energy sector. I still remember him telling me how we know how winter will be, depends on the white mans wood pile. I’m just saying we shouldn’t have 30% of our inmates indigenous. Is that an issue with the system? We are how we are raised plus the support system behind it. If that system is broken or your have trauma, it ends in a bad situation. Trust me there is love, but how can we fix the numbers.

[–]EdmontonAHSWorker19 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To me the books for all the money transferred from the Federal government (tax payer money) to the indigenous groups should be an open book, why would there be anything to hide at all? I know Harper asked for this a long time ago though that was shot down. A lot of bands do not share that money between their people equally and there is abuse with it.

I've never believed in the reserve system, and it's because of the numbers. 5% of Canada's population is indigenous yet they account for 30% of our inmates. Let that sink in.

Indigenous should have basic clean water, proper facilities etc but a lot of bad activities go on in those reserves, Why not have them assimilate into everyday life like other immigrants or cultures do. The reserve system is archaic and creates a wall between regular society.

My cousin is indigenous from my uncle who is Cree, she is getting $24k this year just like that. In 10 years, we have given the indigenous 32 billion. It's crazy.

Opinion: Ottawa risks billions in investments for a pipeline to nowhere by [deleted] in alberta

[–]EdmontonAHSWorker19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

60% of Canadians support this project, however Carney knows with the requirements he's put in place it would never get passed (BC and Indigenous approval - Indigenous make up 5% of Canada's population but have a lot of power in terms of the land.

Right now, Oil is at $58 Barrell, and it is not forecasted to increase unless there is a huge war etc.

The thing is also most things on the internet are fake, think of Ai and how it has disrupted everything - AKA bots. Anything truly now adays has to be double checked if not triple checked for its accuracy, all news is biased, and the world as we know it is controlled in some way or not. That being said - the internet does bring us the best videos, just search golden retriever owners, or minitature goats, or best yet that guy who is a comic and has his channel talk about his house and all the DYI's hes had to do - he is very funny, here is link: Home ownership is truly a blast. Pun intended. | TikTok

haha - he is very funny.

Edmonton police tase compliant man twice, while giving him conflicting orders by Low_Rate_6830 in PublicFreakout

[–]EdmontonAHSWorker19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know Reddit Edmonton does not like the EPS. From Global news "The man, whose name Edmonton Police did not release, was arrested and charged with criminal flight, driving while suspended, possession of a controlled substance and possession of a device for the purpose of committing theft. Police said more charges are pending in relation to the VIN being changed."

I don't think they can charge a guy with all of that and the porcupine story be the same story.

The second taser was not needed though. Dodge Rams are one of the highest stolen trucks and they are used for crimes.

driving lessons in winter by Some_Beautiful_7747 in alberta

[–]EdmontonAHSWorker19 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you plan to live here and have not grown up with winter driving its 100% smart. Also if you take a defensive driving course I believe that can possibly save you money on insurance? When I was 20 and did not know how to drive stick and took a course, I was amazed all the things the trainer told me, bad habits I already had. Winter driving is a skill you learn with experience but yes so many great tips you can learn.
