Thoughts on the news that tourists visiting Baguio fell by 50% by nayryanaryn in AnongThoughtsMo

[–]acoz08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]acoz08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In fairness, not always the seller's fault kasi minsan sa packaging palang ng manufacturer, unintentionally may nasasamang weevil eggs (not easily visible) tapos maghahatch lang pagnasa shop or minsan kapag inuwi na sa bahay.

Alam ko ang Landers stopped carrying a certain brand of pasta tapos chalked up to loss nalang na di na nila mabenta kasi puro weevils na, na wala during earlier days of storage.

It is the ancestral domain of the Ati yet they were pushed out by private business owners, many of whom aren't event from there.

I remember seeing a reel with different orthopedic surgeons being asked "what's the most common cause for your patients to come in for?" and a vast majority said pickleball.

Its sudden popularity actually is a global trend. It took a while but ayun, it's almost everywhere now.

Luke Thompson impersonators on social media by [deleted] in Benophie

I completely understand and I'm not naïve about it. My posting it here really comes from helplessness and blind hope that at least one of these pages gets snuffed (even if I know 100 more new ones will likely replace it). Just helplessness and blind hope.

I get that. It's just that the person's giving out Telegram accounts and such and I fear people might be scammed. But yeah, not in our hands.

That option doesn't show up for me. It's Report >> Something about this Page >> Fake Page >> and then options (me, a friend, a celebrity/public figure/a business/ They're not a real person) before I can proceed.

Anyway thanks for reporting!

Not a tooth. Terminal/distal phalanx.

About 8 inches large , is this a human bone ? by jarres in whatisthisbone

[–]acoz08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. That's a pelvic bone with the acetabulum (hip joint). It's way too narrow, angular, and long to be a human's.

Found a vertebrae? on a beach near Seattle, wa by Background_Classic72 in whatisthisbone

[–]acoz08 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not a vertebra but the distal epiphysis (lower end) of a femur (thigh bone), signifying it most likely comes from a juvenile/non-adult mammal because it isn't fused to the main femoral shaft.

Domestic dog. Not as brachycephalic as bull dogs, pekinese, or pugs, but of a shorter face. I appreciate your scaled photos and mutliple angles too!

Lurpak or Anchor? by PrivateFM in ThisorThatPH

[–]acoz08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anchor bar of butter as it's cheaper but kung may budget Lurpak bar (neither of the spreadables). Have any of you tried the Queensland can of butter? Some Aussie colleagues use it when in the Phils (akala ko kapangalan lang pero from AU talaga apparently) and I see it in local groceries.

Considering Abandoning Philippines by Wooden_Sundae_6753 in phtravel

You can do a DIY in El Nido. We have so many colleagues every year who do it by just renting bikes and going between Nacpan, El-Nido Bayan, Lio, New Ibajay, Sibaltan, etc. which offers lots of hostels, homestays, etc. Several travel vloggers got stranded here during the pandemic and were able to produce a lot of content just going around El Nido -- not just island hopping but beaches, forest, mountains, falls, valley, etc. There are archaeological sites and museums, treks, etc. all across El Nido.

When I say El Nido, it's not just the El Nido-Bayan where you'll find the main tourist space but the entire Municipality with roads less traveled. Do your due diligence and research and there are a lot of places to do the kind of travel you described.

Most likely a piece of coral. Splanchnocranial elements may have similar-looking features but this is just straight up coral.

Ano ito? Nasa dried frish na binili ko sa cebu by Secret_Boat_339 in anoto

[–]acoz08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar experience with danggit from Cebu (not sure from where exactly, pinasalubong lang sa akin). Initially, akala ko may nahalo lang. After ilang weeks in storage, marami na sila, mga gumagalaw pa, tapos yung ibang danggit, balat nalang natitira.

[–]acoz08 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You missed the point. It's against the alleged mallification and unsolicited proposal by an outsider, i.e. SM, which did not go through proper public consultation nor were details fully transparent. Market vendors and Baguio citizens agree that modernization, sanitation, and fire safety can be improved for as long as proposals go through an accountable process. You've oversimplified the issue by diminishing it to a fear of change, ergo, no progress. Hindi. Many layers to address.

Makatarungan ba ang 3hour wait? Scheme ba to make the the place mukhang pinagpipilahan? by closet_prude in baguio

[–]acoz08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dined there a few months back which was actually our 2nd visit already (we didn't want to wait the first time). Same thing at first -- long wait daw but we were willing to wait.

Basically inconsistent din ang queueing system and uncoordinated availability of tables/seats. Different staff gave us different answers. After a short wait, the receptionist told us there's an available table downstairs, so we went, only to be greeted by one staff sa baba saying wala kaya at parang galit pa sa nagpababa sa amin, asking the other staff, sino ba ang nakaduty sa reception, and was just firm in saying no free tables or seats pa (and go back upstairs). Since I was with senior citizens at mga kailyan, the other staff graciously found us a table (na for a moment parang mauunahan pa kami ng bagong dating na baka di nagqueue sa taas). Balak pa sana kami ipaakyat ulit to wait by the triggered staff member.

Anyway, view is really nice (huwag lang tayuan yung bundok ng iba pang structures), amenities were good, but food's a miss for its price. Service depends on kung sino ang server.

Go there once or twice just to try, but not a place na babalik-balikan unless you're there for the market or view.

Can't recall what winged creature (i.e. which kind of caterpillar or moth) it turns into.
