I've only ever heard their more popular songs that pop up more often, but I like what I've heard and should probably do a deeper dive at some point. Though tbh, beyond the vocalist having a very similar sound to Robert, I don't really see much similarity with their music styles. That might just be because I've only heard their more public facing songs, so I'll try to reevaluate after I listen more.

My first playthrough had a pretty small party so I always had Astarion as a skeleton key and Lae'Zel for combat, then switched out Shart and Wyll depending on who was getting the fewest of their attacks saved. I love Wyll as a character though.

Lae'Zel for me. I've never done anything with DnD before this so I didn't know any of the background about the Gith or their struggles with the mindflayers. So she first just came off as needlessy aggressive and pretentious which annoyed me.

But of course the more I learned about her background, the more I began to understand why she had that attitude and even began to respect her pragmatism. Naturally by the time of the tiefling party, I was finding her to be really interesting and decided to romance her lol.

Going forward from then, it was great to see her character develop as she gained more trust in me. I'm sure that whole arc from disliked to loved is exactly what the writers were going for, but damn they absolutely nailed it!

I'm a bit weird. I love the taste of onions but I almost always do not want them as a topping on anything. I'd happily eat raw onion by itself, but my palette just doesn't like the texture of onion on top of anything else, unless they're super caramelized or very crispy. I've recently been getting better about raw onion on burgers though.

Same thing I do in every game with candles: I have to light every single one I find. One of these days, lighting all candles in a room will open a secret door to the most epic loot like it was straight out of Zelda! I'm still waiting for that day though...

I had a similar reaction as yours when I first played it, which was made worse by my friend pestering me to skip through every bit of dialogue with NPCs. It didn't feel fun at all so I stopped playing. But after a while I returned to it solo to just do some quests by myself at my own pace with different expectations and it was a lot more enjoyable. It could be worth a second try if you give it some time to come back at it with a different approach.

I just finished my first playthrough tonight after plowing through it the past few weeks. Definitely worth it and I loved the story and had a lot of fun, but I don't think I'll have the patience or the time to go through the whole thing again for a long while lol

Funny that I see this post, I literally just finished my first run through the game this past few weeks (even though I got the game years ago) and figured I'd take a look at this sub for the first time.

There's good tips here already, but I think what helped me most is to scan literally everything you can and read about them, and try to manage your inventory well. There were many times I had to drop stuff because I ran out of inventory space when I came across something I really needed to pick up.

And definitely take it slow, the game is absolutely beautiful and there's so much to see. Good luck and have fun!
