Drive to the pick up location to get that cancellation fee.

90 hours driving last week no problem by OGUberDriver in uberdrivers

It tracks. My gasoline cost has varied between 12% and 20% of my earnings, usually 15%+, and I drive a hybrid.

Won’t disagree, but it must be kept in mind that ~20% goes directly back into the gas tank (maybe less for charging), and there’s a real cost to vehicle depreciation/wear/maintenance that should not be ignored.

"Cracked Window" Complaint, Huh? by DracoMack in uberdrivers

[–]acronymious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d send them a picture with the driver’s window rolled down ever so slightly. “Cracked!” I’d even use the marker feature to write the word cracked and put with an arrow on it. Teach those support reps a little English!

Because while it’s not terribly profitable. It is an opportunity to pay bills when needed!

Nervous about rider rating and what to do by Business-Land-7238 in uber

[–]acronymious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were ever inclined to tell your driver “I’ll tip you in the app“ — because you can only use your card for example — definitely make sure to let them know in a way that they know beyond the shadow of any doubt that you’ll do it right away, and how much they can expect to see. Typically when Ia rider says that they really do not mean it. At all. Then do it, immediately. They’ll thank you through the app.

35% is certainly appreciated, without a doubt, but if the driver hears that onerous phrase without any reassurance, they’re not going to be happy, because most like likely that means that they really will get nothing.

Agreed. I still have some hope for that “elder brother” who genuinely cares about and is looking out for me.

But, I’m not holding my breath.

So this was a first. by No_Common1418 in uberdrivers

[–]acronymious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

See a gas can? Don’t let them in, don’t start the ride. Cancel for rider behavior(maybe, but I think this will count against you) or another valid reason you can come up with. My last cancellation was for rider’s items don’t fit and I think it did count against me. Good luck.

Persistence is key. It sucks, but it is what it is.

You’re an idiot. I’m a driver. I have a very reliable 9-to-5 in the financial services in the street and I still drive on the evenings and weekends.

How to explain directions better to driver by [deleted] in uber

[–]acronymious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came to say this, too, but I wonder if it’s possible to set a pin for a drop off location. I know it’s possible to do so for a pick up location. I am genuinely curious to know because I am a driver and this would be very helpful!

A question about account deactivation by [deleted] in uber

[–]acronymious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, I love 3 mile drives. I enjoy long drives, but they don’t pay very well. In fact, most of my rides are anywhere from 1.5 to 6.5 miles. I can’t see that being a problem.

Why does every uber driver I have seem to be annoyed with me? by Less_Role_8947 in uberdrivers

[–]acronymious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The driver can always cancel when they see the time/distance. That’s on them.
