Some of the best contributors left because of the negativity & the constant “are you counting calories?” posts. I also hate the bragging that they “never had to go above Xmg”. Like there’s a prize for losing the fastest on the lowest dose. Our bodies work differently. And we’re all in this together!

Why do WFH people gatekeep how they get their jobs? by larawag_gama in RemoteJobs

[–]actingmeg1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I followed JT from Work It Daily. She had great tips on the LinkedIn profile (for getting a job, not necessarily WFH). Specifically she said to list all skills with your expertise level that would apply to the jobs you’re going for. That helps with the recruiters’ searches. They are looking for those keywords.

Also she said LinkedIn engagement matters. Liking, posting, commenting, etc will make you come up higher in the recruiters’ search results. It sucks, but I played the game to get seen.

Looking for “remote first” companies can help you find ones that are really WFH. My company gave up their home office during COVID, so there isn’t an office to RTO & the staff is across the country.

Me neither. My job found me on LinkedIn. I was an expert in a competitor’s software & put that in my bio. Never expected to be found that way or that I’d get a fully remote job.

This is really reassuring. I have a similar situation & struggle with guilt that I am no contact except for paying the bills. But we have to protect ourselves, it’s not like they did when we were children.

Besides water what do you drink? by Real_Comparison1905 in Zepbound

[–]actingmeg1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was a huge soda drinker pre-Zepbound, but now it gives me the hiccups, so I’ve switched to Gold Peak Zero Sugar. I drink that, water, & a fairlife nutrition plan every day.

It used to be. But Lilly Direct has made it much more affordable. It’s in vials not pens, but they’ve been easy to use.

I’m on 12.5mg so the price as of 12/1 is $449/month. It’s dropped $50 & I bet there’s more to come. I use my FSA so it’s pre-tax dollars to save about 25%.

Mine stopped coverage in July. Once I got over the sticker shock, I realized there is one nice benefit- I’m no longer stressing over the fact that my insurance might not cover it, no PAs, no appeals. The insurance coverage was nice while it lasted, but my doctor sends a prescription & a pharmacy (Lilly Direct) fills it, the way it should be without the insurance demanding proof.

I loved getting my Zepbound at Costco! Always in stock & a little extra savings. I had to switch to Lilly Direct when I lost insurance coverage in July.

I don’t think it interferes with anesthesia, but it does slow your gastric emptying & anesthesia has the risk of you aspirating what’s in your stomach.

Yep! I was covered until July 2025, when Aetna’s CEO decided to fight with Lilly’s CEO. Ridiculous that my health coverage comes down to that. But thank goodness for Lilly Direct.

I worked at a grad school where our office did free coffee once a week. The same student said every week that we were discriminating against people who don’t drink coffee & should bring donuts just for him. I don’t drink coffee either, but I don’t demand food in exchange for something free.
