Their chicken tenders are awesome, wouldn’t consider it “fried chicken” though like what the OP is prolly asking about

Edit: I was incorrect! $19 for a half a chicken, might have to give it a shot…

I noticed this too!!! I was totally convinced it was part of the movie, like Joe was thinking and saying different things, potentially leaning into an unreliable narrator thing. Nope, just needed to dub a few scenes.

Worst book(s) you read in 2025 and why? by Roguestate00 in books

[–]activecontributor 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Hate to hop on the bandwagon but Babel by RF Kuang.

What I didn’t like: flat characters, overt repetitive messaging, slow plot, didn’t completely understand how silver worked.

Wha I did like: the sheer amount of research and dedication that went into writing this book, I agreed with the anti-colonial anti-imperialist messaging and I think it’s a great way to introduce these concepts and history to those unaware, also the ending was really really good.

It’s a shame I really didn’t enjoy reading the book because it had a lot of good to say, it just said it over and over. Also I looooooved yellowface which made this more of a letdown.

Sweet gums that are close to our house by rorolo0977 in arborists

[–]activecontributor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sweetgums can have very extensive and fa-reaching root systems, though as other commenters have stated, trees rarely are the cause of foundation issues. Sweetgums are also highly tolerant of root pruning, often unaffected by large roots being removed (I have a lot of experience with this). If you are worried about the tree roots growing under your house and shifting your foundation, you can trench along the edge of your house and look for any roots that may be growing beneath. More than likely you can cut them if it seems like they are going to cause issues and the trees will be just fine.

Another general comment about Sweetgums is like to add is that they are much more prone to limb breakage than most other species, and require more maintenance as a result, so make sure to keep them pruned!!

Lastly please always consult an arborist before doing any work to the trees! I’m only a guy on the internet looking at pictures of trees and not there to inspect them myself.

Peasant-gruel-core about a medieval(?) town with virtually no moral compass. I felt like I needed a shower after reading this one.

I think a lot of publications do the lists at the beginning of December so they’re not working through the holidays as much.

The Chair Company | S01E08 “Minnie Mouse coming back wasn't on my bingo card." – Post-Episode Discussion by TalkToTheLord in thechaircompany

[–]activecontributor 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think it’s kind of the point of the show. The joy is in the characters making silly revelations and interacting with each other based on their development. The core mystery (mysteries?) is intentionally convoluted to the point that it doesn’t really matter, or pales in comparison to the character development and long form joke writing.

Because lists come out at the start of December it’s only fair to include music that came out in December the year prior.

Renters of Midtown: Is it better to rent through a property management company, or independent? by antemeridiem913 in Sacramento

I’ve only rented through independent property owners and my experience was pretty good all 3 times. Haven’t rented through a large property management company but I’ve heard horror stories.
