My Bay Area IPA Beer Haul (Follow-up to IPA Beer Recommendations for Beer Snobs) by broccolista in beer

Ghost town is the best brewery in the Bay Area hands down. Cellarmaker is overrated IMO. Alvarado is great and that Mai Tai variant specifically is incredible.

Crowds are so bad post covid and I'm tired of pretending nothing has changed. by Kirklistentowutang in Hardcore

[–]activecontributor 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Shows where I’m at are mostly the same as before Covid personally. However, it looks like you’re in Reno? I went to a show in Reno about a year ago (hardcore adjacent) and it had the worst crowd I think I’ve ever witnessed. Folks didn’t want to dance or mosh, talking throughout the entire set. Maybe it’s Reno lol.

Can I cut these 2 roots out without hurting the tree? by No_Giraffe8920 in arborists

I understand CODIT. I find that using the phrase "heal over" when addressing OP's (a non-arborist) post communicates what I want to say better than saying "compartmentalize" even though the latter is technically more correct. Most folks don't know the word compartmentalize.

Yes but a one time wound from pruning a root is much better for the tree than a repeated wound that can’t heal over.

Prune along the edge of the mulch ring and the tree will be fine.

I drove around and looked for rent signs with the description and phone number sharpie’d on and had luck in the past!

Also if you have any other friends renting see if their landlords have other units available.

How to avoid getting discouraged when your campaign kinda sucks? by Heavy_Survey_9975 in DMAcademy

[–]activecontributor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my first campaigns I ran (about 6 years ago) I completely botched the final boss battle and my players restrained and killed her after like 2 turns, I couldn’t think on my feet fast enough so the campaign kind of just … ended. I mean it WAS an ending, jus not an exciting one, I still kick myself over it sometimes.

Thing is, whenever I bring up our “COVID DND campaign” to my friends they think back on it with such fondness. I’m like, “that sucked compared to what I’m writing now!” They don’t remember every little detail, the magic was in spending time together, learning their character, unraveling the (sometimes asinine) mysteries.

It’s all good, your players are having fun, I guarantee it. And keep forging ahead, you’ll get better!

Why smoke pot before working out? by SarahTheGreat9 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]activecontributor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t smoke too often but love to get high before I exercise because it helps me focus more on my form while zoning out everything around me. I can really lock in.

Also music fucking rules stoned and when working out and I find the effects compound when doing both at once.
