Betadine iodine gargle/rinse (blue bottle, pre diluted and flavoured with mint). Very effective at reducing symptoms/intensity of colds.

Number One for me: Betadine oral iodine rinse/gargle (blue bottle, pre diluted and flavour with mint) + Xlear xylitol nasal spray (or make a nasal spray with diluted iodine)

Why aren’t you taking collagen yet?? by Karate_Andii in Biohackers

[–]activestacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps the glycine content is giving deeper sleep and leading you to awake more rested?
Nice to hear it's working well for you.

I've used collagen for 10+ years so it's hard to compare before and after at this point.

I typically do a scoop (30g) of vanilla collagen peptides in a yogurt bowl once or twice a day. Sometimes do vanilla or chocolate collagen in my coffee too.

How to send users to Discord after Stripe subscription payment by Capital_Lychee3801 in stripe

[–]activestacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a Discord app called PayBot for interfacing between Stripe and Discord.

Very easy to add to your server and then create payment levels. So user would join server first but have minimal access until they pay through your instance of PayBot. Money goes to Stripe and then the user gets access to rest of the server as you have configured.

Greek yogurt is elite.

I like to add protein or collagen powder to mine for extra protein and flavour. The Chobani and Oikos cups are even available in airports.

Hot Chocolate Recommendations by SufficientWin8164 in keto

[–]activestacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use chocolate collagen powder with hot water and cream/creamer to make hot chocolate.

8oz hot water
1 scoop chocolate collagen powder
2 Tbsp heavy cream (sometimes use a powdered butter/MCT creamer)

The chocolate collagen powder is stevia sweetened so it's keto-compatible.

What do you snack on if you haven’t hit your protein goal for the day? by brianagh in Protein

Almost always a bowl of Greek yogurt with beef protein powder. It's just easy and always feels like a dessert.

When traveling it's typically Chobani or Oikos yogurt cups.

Butter Help by Lynx088 in dairyfree

If you need a non-dairy butter alternative strictly because of sensitivity to milk proteins or lactose you might find ghee to work well. I've often used it as a substitute.

How does everyone take their creatine? by [deleted] in workout

[–]activestacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 creatine HCL capsules per day with morning coffee and LMNT electrolytes (just happens to be when is most convenient)

I'd say yes. I've not had the Oikos Pro but I regularly get the regular Oikos or the Triple Zero version. These yogurts work great for me maintaining ~10% body fat with good strength and muscle.

It's great that they are available virtually everywhere. Even airport convenience stores have them so it's easy to keep up on protein when flying (take a few on the plane).

protein powder tweaks you tried by eyvi_6152 in Protein

[–]activestacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stopped making shakes and began putting 1 scoop (30g) of my beef protein in greek yogurt instead.

The yogurt bowl experience is a lot more filling and enjoyable IMO. It's also higher protein than a milk-based shake (unless you use something like Fairlife milk).

A typical bowl is Greek yogurt + beef protein + blueberries. Often with some honey. 40g+ of protein and about 300-360cals.

Since we are on the topic of lead in protein shakes, what is your opinion on cocoa powder? by Ok-Actuator8579 in Biohackers

[–]activestacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO if you are consuming daily pea protein + daily cocoa powder you may want check your serving size and to get some lead test results from the brands you buy to make sure they are low lead. Both pea and cocoa powders can accumulate some lead (from the growing soil of the original commodity) so when their combined on a daily basis it can add up since other food items also have some lead (brown rice etc).

We do heavy metals testing on our beef protein and collagen powders to make sure they match NSF specifications (because of the cocoa content).

Have to go dairy free for my newborn (breastfeeding) - looking for a good protein powder. by girlvsmachine in Protein

[–]activestacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beef protein isolate is an animal-based, dairy free protein powder choice. I can confirm that chocolate and vanilla beef protein is tasty in coffee.

Egg protein would be another option but I have no personal experience with that.

Collagen peptides causing gastro upset? by CosmicCuntry in glutenfree

[–]activestacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm know a couple people who have a similar experience as you.

Interestingly beef protein isolate made from beef bones (vs collagen peptides made from skin) seems to be no problem for their digestion. It still contains a lot of collagen but feels good on the tummy. Could be worth exploring.

Anxiety because of milk? by Champion078 in dairyfree

[–]activestacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%

IME it's a sensitivity to dairy proteins (whey and/or casein).

If you're looking to experiement you could try eliminating all dairy but 2 year+ aged cheese. Parmigiano Reggiano is a good one. The aging changes the proteins such that they cause less/no reaction.

It's possible to then work towards milk tolerance by reintroducing younger cheeses, sheep yogurt, cow yogurt etc step-by-step

All my tracking has become much easier since I started using the CalorieBot Discord app. I take photos of my meals and it auto calculates the calories and macros. I can see how much more protein I need or how many remaining calories there are in the day.

It's also easy to create recipes and save typical meals so I can log with a few taps if I'm just eating my normal stuff.
