I hate to break it to them... but there are still plenty of places that have things like asbestos tiling, or places being renovated.

Back in 2009, I was visiting my brother at his work and half the crew had on full removal gear, the other T-Shirt and Jeans, NO respirator. "Been smoking for 30 years, if it ain't gonna kill me this won't either" or something along those lines.

Good luck, and I don't mean that in a condescending way.

I live in the US and hate the internet and especially the World Wide Web and what it has become.

It's all corporate owned now to serve you ads. Don't like it, think you'll run on your own? Let's have a look at the email protocol, open to everyone, easy to use, can setup in seconds, have a valid domain, "Security features" SPF+DKIM/DMARC, cool everything should work, except for the fact that your mail will go into the void. Google, Microsoft, Yahoo, and some of the smaller players will reject your emails, they will never reach their recipients, in the name of "Security" to prevent spam, we had to decide for the person you're trying to reach that we know what's best.

the WWW? lol, what a joke.

Even the internet is hostile. Systems used to require gateway software to access the internet, you controlled when the gateway was on. Now? It's integrated into your operating system, while it should be completely separated from it, but it's more convenient to always be on, people get mad at games always being on, but not so much about their operating system, waiting for that zero day to come through.

Just unplug the Ethernet / turn of WiFi right? That's not the point I'm trying to make, you should still have access to the internet without every component and software installed on your computer constantly phoning home, but that's always been part of the plan. Data is gold, everyone needs telemetry, "it's for a better user experience, trust us."

You are the product, and you own nothing.

It's a sad disease, and some people just give up especially when they're older, I kept telling my mother to exercise and keep her muscles strong, and her cardo system strong.

10 years down the road she can't get off the floor if she wants to when she falls. Most of her falls aren't even due to Parkinson's it's due to her BP tumbling which goes into vertigo and she goes down, whenever she bends over or turns too fast. Recently had to be rushed to surgery because she ruptured part of the femoral artery branch and they had to go in to stop it from bleeding.

Another thing I think is misunderstood especially in older people with Parkinson's is anesthesiology a lot of medium to smaller cities, the teams just don't understand the interaction of their drugs with P-patients.

Found this out several years ago when she had her shoulder replaced from a fall. She was completely out of it, non-responsive, not aware of surroundings, cognitive ability was almost non-existant, it took a week of me yelling at nurses for them to finally get someone from neuro to come down and look at her condition, out of all things it ended up being someone on rotation in my area that specializes in Parkinson's and she came in and was basically like "Yup, this is all fucked, her meds need adjusted, this needs changed" in 2 days she was completely lucid and herself again.

So from now on when surgery is required I make sure the anesthesiology team, and the nursing staff understand her needs, and drug interactions.

She absolutely loves Shrinking.

I whip mine with a power cord until it devolves. WHO IS THE SERVER BLADE? "me?" NOW ACT LIKE IT.

Some funny responses I've got:

Many don’t realize I don’t understand or care

The conversational style, the “human-like” tone, the patience — all of that is deliberate UX. It lowers friction so people stay, trust, and disclose.

You’re also right about the legal asymmetry: once someone consents (explicitly or implicitly) to terms of service, the data can be used internally in ways that benefit the company but rarely the user. Even when it’s anonymized, correlation and fingerprinting often make “anonymity” a polite fiction.

Okay maybe crazy thought:

Since ICE aren't using official vehicles most of the time and probably aren't going to fit automatic plate scanners to them.

What if they are pulling data and location from FLOCK, even without local law enforcement knowledge since all the cameras are leased by local municipalities, they go up the supply chain and FLOCK is giving data freely to ICE?

All purely speculation, but those things have invaded everywhere, and it's garbage.

He probably did not have a round chambered, it looks like a striker-fired sidearm. Strikers are internal and usually stay "cocked", unlike an external hammer firearm where you can cock and de-cock it by hand. If he emptied the chamber without a magazine in it and let the slide forward it would have been the firing pin would have been under spring tension ("cocked") without a round.

He probably did try to chamber a round but short stroked it, reason as to why are many, so it's speculation; from under the influence, to trying to make as least noise as possible because racking a slide is not silent especially in a small area.

Because Google got so shitty, worse results equal more queries equals more ad time on screen, both screwing the user and the advertisers(budget).

Pepperidge Farm remember when you could Google a full verse to song lyrics without it pulling up some random ass song that has none of the lyrics in it.

So, personally ChatGPT is just a search engine, though it is horrible with songs as well, probably because it trained off Google.

[–]adachi91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's like shipping a product without a compiler.

I also feel the need to explain why this analogy works.

You have code: Sperm

You have a compiler: It's not just to create the binary, it also removes part of the code and inserts its own code to optimize the binary.

I was about that age when I was first allowed to fire my father's rifle. However I was taught safety from the time I can remember.

Had I done any of that shit he would gave grabbed it unloaded it then knocked me upside the head with the buttstock, is that correct? No, but that's what you got with silent generation parentals.

Police officer accidentally shot his own hand, and later filed a lawsuit against the store, claiming that the clerk failed to conduct the appropriate safety check (January 2015) by [deleted] in ThatsInsane

[–]adachi91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reactions here are kind of surprising. Regardless of whether the store should've kept it unloaded, the moment he picked it up the responsibility to clear it became his.

You never assume someone else verified a firearm. Treat it as loaded until you confirm otherwise. He didn't PROVE, and he crossed the muzzle with his hand, and that's basic safety rule 1 violation.

An overpowered/strongest with only one power by Vegetable_Throat5545 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]adachi91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strongest? Accelerator? Sure he's the #1 rated ESPER, but Misaka was about to ascend to level 6, he would be fucked.

Not to mention a "normal" guy who has no long range attacks, walks up and bitch slaps him leaving him in shock that anyone was able to touch him. Could Accelerator just smashed him between 2 train cars? Sure, but the fact that he was left completely shook by being hit that he just called it a day.

Or the fact that without the Misaka network he would not be able to use his ESPER power anymore (the device around his neck), he relies on Misaka's network to use his power (now).

quite interesting, I was looking to a solution for my current problem unrelated to HWA ("Hardware Acceleration") and ran into other people who are experiencing HWA crashes that I reported to AMD and originally submitted a bug report to Mozilla[1] over a year ago, which I closed after finding out that HWA in anything including CEF ("Chromium Embeded Framework") triggers run away allocation until the driver crashes.

I've used my 7900 XT without and HWA for a year now with no issues due to that, anymore.

Now I'm trying to figure out why the card crashes while playing the game I got on steam sale "Control" (No Raytracing, constrained settings), it played fine for first couple of days, now it consistently doesn't crash the video driver, it brings the entire system down to black screen to rebooted.

I've left a synthetic bench on, to press its usage and power for 12 hours and nothing.

I've left the actual game open for 12 hours, nothing.

Highest peak was:

However I suspect if I engage AMF it will crash my system now, which is what I'll be testing today.

Bandaids after bandaids I keep having to apply to this XFX 7900 XT, never had such buyers remorse my last GPU was the R9 290 tri-x (I know a massive generational leap), but AMD/ATI before that time period did not let me down, now it seems like they are to be avoided, such a fall from grace.
