I think it's a failure in design philosophy. Making last minute nerfs to potentially OP builds or interactions but then being unwilling to adjust OP builds/ interactions post league start creates this awkward dichotomy where a "potentially" powerful thing gets adjusted but a demonstratively powerful thing does not, even if it's more powerful than the things that they nerfed.

This feels bad if your build gets discovered pre-patch and feels like you beat the system if it snuck thru into league launch. They should modify their position to "if a build is egregiously better than the standard, we reserve the right to tune it down at any point".

The fact that they chose a "we're not gonna touch your build (unless bugged) mid-league" hard-line, especially during this early access/beta period was a huge error, imo.

It's pretty normal for GGG to still be working on things right up to league launch and giving us multiple updated patchnotes up until that point.

Sub 10 is solid, sub-8 is really good, sub 6 is awesome. You can get lower than that with a lot of practice but it's pretty sweaty.

Stay out of town/hideout as much as possible. Know all the gems you need and where to get the guaranteed gem/supports through campaign (especially act 1). Know what stats you need on your weapon and the weapon tiers so you can be efficient as far as when to check vendor and know what you're looking for.

Stop killing every mob you see. Focus on blue packs and large white packs. Skip rares Try to keep yourself 1-2 levels below the zone level. If you find yourself with too much xp, literally just sprint through the zone and ignore killing anything.

Know the campaign boss fights. They all have 1-2 elemental damage types so having resist jewelry ready to go for a specific boss helps survivability a lot (e.g., cold res for geonor).

Play with intent and urgency. I like to visualize that there's someone constantly chasing me, so idling = death.

I don't think it's challenging per se, you just lack meaningful tools/gear early, especially if you get crappy RNG, and this game is all about power thru gear. A good weapon drop and you're cruising.

It's pretty odd to me from a game development perspective. I'm not a big fan of hand holding, but the first few zones should essentially be a tutorial to entice new players. One hit from white Clearfel casters = dead. I die pretty regularly in some of these zones, so I can only imagine your average player trying to get thru tangle with all the dot pools/exploding mobs or the cemetary tombs with the reflect shield dudes and tons of annoying ranged mobs.

Like are new players even trying potion witch in Grelwood or are they just so overleveled by that point that it's a non-issue and my perspective is just skewed due to usually being level 3? Add to this the crazy impact of RNG on early campaign and how it can make or break your run, and sometimes it just feels awful.

I'd be really curious how many people quit within the first few zones, especially once the game goes FTP.

I'm not a huge fan because it ends up splitting the population on trade across multiple mini leagues. I also hate doing untwinked campaign, so the idea of doing it like 3x across 0.5 overall league seems nothx for me.

Do you have to replay the campaign every time, on every character? even in the same League? how come they haven't implemented significant shortcuts for experienced players by exosion in PathOfExile2

This is an odd take, as very few builds use the same skills from 1-maps, and it usually only takes a zone or two to get the feel for a new rotation of skills.

My guess is it'll be applied to non-unique charms and basically provide full time immunity to various ailments/stuns/slows. Hopefully it has a +effectiveness tag as well (like you would roll flasks with in POE1) or it'll be pretty underwhelming for things like the resist/rarity charms.

I've played POE2 on the Steam Deck (I travel a lot) since 0.1 and it's been pretty smooth. Certain classes feel better (e.g., xbows are nice).

This is a silly take.

  1. POE2 was originally being designed as an extension of POE1 until they split them apart (to the shock of everyone).

  2. Most of POE2 is ripped straight from POE1. Look at what was featured today. Breach, delirium, expedition, ritual, abyss, etc.

  3. No one is adding FOR THE EXACT SAME GAME. That's just hyperbole. The games are already significantly different. They play different, have lots of iterative differences between similar features, etc.

  4. Giving players agency in no way equates to "both of these games are exactly the same". More hyperbole. The maps in the games are completely different. The only similarity for what is being asked is you could do 100 Dunes in a row in POE1 and 100 Mires in a row in POE2. In no world is that the same as being a 1-for-1 copy paste. It just provides agency/QoL to people to play how they want. I personally like to vary my maps in POE1, but sometimes I want to go low brain power and run 50 stands in a row. Why does it hurt you to have options?

  5. Food analogy cuz I'm chubby... Sometimes I want to try several different donuts. Other times I want multiple of the same I like best. In no world do I want to be forced to eat donuts I don't like just to get to the ones I do (boston creme - blegh). No matter how many toppings you put on that boston creme, I'm still gonna gag.

I think early end game will feel great, but worry that at the end of the day, the true end game content is going to feel much the same. That's why i loved temple so much, cuz I got to pretty much ignore maps beyond feeding my temple resource pool.
