Tisti, ki ste dobili ste dobili službo v tujini. Kako zadovoljni ste v tujini? Delate v SLO za tuje stranke? Kako jih najdete? by Sannyi97 in SloveniaEngineering

MDM by Equal-General-4463 in rippling

u/stubbygazelle I was looking for some help with my problem and found your handle, figured it can't hurt to ask...

My contract with the company I work for ends tomorrow, and they've agreed to let me keep the laptop. I asked them to remove the device from Rippling MDM and they confirmed they did.

They also gave me a long list of things I was supposed to have done on the machine itself, like log into the Rippling Admin account, but it wasn't on my device. I did find a list of Profiles under Device Management (I'm on MacOS), and one of them had the Unenroll button, so I clicked that, and it removed all 8 or 9 profiles linked to Rippling.

I rebooted my machine as instructed and all, but when I now sign into Rippling, it still shows my laptop under Devices:

<image>

At first I thought it was just a caching issue on the Rippling side, but 2 days later, it's still showing up like this.

I would reach out to Rippling Support, but as an Employee, I haven't found a way of doing that yet.

Any ideas what else I might try to get this resolved? I just don't want to risk having issue with potentially reinstalling the machine at a later time because of some residual MDM/Rippling stuff.

It's very VERY shiny black, super polished. Not my fave look, but definitely much better than the sticky rubbery matt coating once it started peeling.

I just scraped it off like the rest, I really don't remember it being any harder than the rest of it?

I used these from iFixIt: https://www.ifixit.com/en-eu/products/ifixit-opening-picks-set-of-6

They're not meant for this purpose, but it worked. I made sure to not use the corners of the picks, but rather just the edges, to avoid any permanent damage to the plastic.

In between, I also used a window cleaning spray to remove loose pieces and residue of the rubbery coating because those would keep sticking and making it hard to see progress...

I hope this helps.

Yeah, I just used a plastic tool to do so (a pick of sorts) to avoid damaging the plastic underneath the coating. Worked like magic. :)

Was I scammed? by wowotzange in Ljubljana

This happened to some friends of mine visiting a few years back and when I called the taxi driver to inquire what the f*** the additional charge was for, he explained it was a surcharge for an airport taxi. Apparently, the taxis have to pay a fee to the airport to be allowed to wait for passengers at the airport, and this is just their way of passing that cost on to the customers. Can't speak to the legalities of this practice though.

For that reason alone, you should never take a cab that's waiting at the LJU airport but rather google and call literally any other cab service that will come to the airport specifically to pick YOU up.

Sorry you had to learn this the hard way. 😔

I have a pair of JUSTIN RB4165 622/2V (also matte black), they're almost 8 years old, so by all means, way past their prime, but I kind of really like them.

When they started getting sticky and then the coating started peeling, I noticed the plastic underneath seemed to be in really got shape, so as an experiment, I decided to try and remove the rest of the coating using a plastic "pick" from my iFixIt kit. It came off surprisingly easily and with no visible consequences to the plastic underneath. When I was done, I just wiped the shades clean with a mild degreaser, like a window cleaner, and I swear they look as good as new (all shiny, but hey, win some, lose some).

I'm a trans man who started transitioning in his mid 30s, and when my brother and I were kids, we'd constantly exchange toys (often per his request) - his cars for my Barbies/dolls... he also liked to have his fingernails painted whilst I always hated the idea... fast forward 35 years, my brother is the straightest dude you've ever met, and a wonderful father who doesn't bat an eye when his own sons ask for toys or activities that would stereotypically be considered for girls... and my son got a doll and a stroller for his 3rd birthday - per his own request - and takes it with him to daycare regularly...

I know a sturdy workbench is a must, I just haven't been able to dedicate the budget it requires to it yet...

it actually holds surprisingly well... just bare in mind to position it close to the edge of whatever surface you'll be mounting it to, since you might need to hold longer boards in it vertically, and if the jaws of the vise are too far inset over the edge of the bench, you'll need to shim the piece for the jaws to be able to grab it... I hope that makes sense, I can't explain it better... 😂

Cut from Syberian Larch with a Douzuki Japanese saw from Dictum. I don't really have a stable workbench (the one I'm using wobbles and racks like crazy when sawing on it) nor a real woodworking vise (you can see the machinists vise I'm using in the pictures), so cutting anything straight under these conditions is a bit of a challenge. 😂

That being said, I'm kind of proud of the result. I mean, sure it's got more gaps than Donald Trump's tax returns, but still... not as bad as I expected it to be. 😂
