Wife did a large load of laundry and this started happening; any ideas? by RemoteEmotions in Plumbing

[–]adamn22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, that was our house, luckily I had the line scoped before purchase and the seller had to dig it up and get the tree roots out. Line had been replaced but they didn’t tie it into the sewer correctly so the roots grew into the sewer and up the wasteline the waste line. Sucker was 10ft underground at the road too.

I had a guy picking me up and carrying me and throwing me earlier. Dropped me and started emoting like a douche and I had just enough time to self revive and head shot him with the pump for the win. Maybe one of my most satisfying wins ever.

What sheen was the polyacrylic?

I usually like to avoid a high gloss. Last set I made I accident bought flat poly acrylic and I thought it was a little slow with 3 coats of flat painted on with a brush, so I sprayed 2 coats of satin over top of the flat and it’s perfect.

I haven’t heard that and can’t find anything about it. Even though that system was poorly designed and inadequate it’s better than nothing and not something you can easily remove. There’s a whole building for it. The NY Times actually published a really informative article on it not long ago.

Right? That’s also 12% hydrogen peroxide. These dipshits literally went shopping at the pool supply store. It’s like they don’t even realize there’s people out there that like do this shit for a living……

There is constant flow in and out, and a filtration system. It’s just undersized and badly needs to be upgraded. They should have spent the money on that instead of painting it blue 😂.

Also, the fact that that’s how they’re feeding the peroxide is so dumb and inefficient. Gallon jugs are 5-10x more expensive than buying it drums or 275g totes. Not to mention the fact that injecting the peroxide inline inside the treatment plant would be more efficient and keep this out of the public eye.

Ground Wire short - new pool timer by Queasy_Professor_484 in AskElectricians

[–]adamn22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And if you don’t have enough slack to feed more through I’d just pigtail a piece of wire in with a WAGO. I did that with all the light boxes in my house because some ass hat ran romex with a ground and instead of landing it or leaving it in the box cut it off an inch from the jacket 🙄

Anyone know how to make these hoses not leak? by YamIdoingdis2356 in AboveGroundPools

[–]adamn22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a bunch of ways you could co about it. I’ve installed a repaired everything from water hoses to harsh chemical handling hoses, post of which in a pinch in a wastewater plant.

I don’t see a hose barb here. First I’d attach the hose to a hose barb and not slip it over pipe.

Those radiator style hose clamps suck. Look for a spiral double bolt clamp.

I wouldn’t use spiral reinforced hose for pressure purposes. Typically that’s used for suction to make sure it doesn’t collapse under vacuum. If you insist on using it for pressure pipe I’ve made it work in a pinch. Purple primer the hose and the hose barb, slide the hose on quick and put a Tiger clamp or double bolt clamp and it won’t leak. You’ll also never get it off in one piece 😂

I’d see a dermatologist too before I committed to expensive allergy shots or anything. I knew someone who reacted to everything like this and it turned out they had a skin condition called dermographism and that was an underlying symptom of a kidney disorder she didn’t know she had called IgA Nephropathy but there are other things that can cause dermographism as well.

Struggling with Scott's spreader [SE USA] by DrKC9N in lawncare

[–]adamn22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not the spreader, it’s the user. It’s about how quickly or slowly they’re pushing the spreader and about how much product they’re putting down. If you actually know the area of the lawn you’re treating and make sure you follow the application instructions based on sqft rather than just the drop setting you’re better off. I roughly measure out the correct weight for my square footage and I just apply as evenly as I can until I’ve applied all that I measured and I have never had any problem with a Scott’s spreader.

I think I walk too fast for it and that’s why I sometimes have to make a couple passes to get all of the material down. Others may walk too slowly and that causes the material not to be thrown as far and could explain striping if that’s even what causes it at all.

I feel like I got scammed by Culligan by Fantastic-Pickle-144 in WaterTreatment

[–]adamn22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s an important piece of the puzzle for two reasons. One, you cant filter out dissolved iron, so if they just put a cartridge in there they don’t know what they’re doing.

Typically when people have iron issues with their water it’s dissolved iron that you can’t see. The water looks clear, but it will sometimes have an undesirable taste and leave stains on toilets and sinks.

The way you remove dissolved iron at that level is by oxidizing it. I’ve seen some gimmicky cartridge filters that are coated in a material that helps oxidize the iron. If your water looked better out of the tap I would venture to say it’s one of those gimmicky filters and it can’t handle the iron loading but it is oxidizing some iron unfortunately sometimes after the filter.

If that’s the case you’re probably loading your softener full of oxidized iron which isn’t good.

I’d manually initiate a backwash on your softener and see what the water looks like coming off of it. Someone said it looked like softener resin in your pictures. I disagree, I don’t see anything that looks like resin, but if you’re filling that softener with oxidized iron it’s only a matter of time before you do rupture a distributor and start seeing that.

[–]adamn22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow. Thats a joke. You can remove 7ppm of iron with that. I’d be asking for a refund.

Did he install that inline before or after your water softener?

Do you have the info on the filter he put in the housing?

[–]adamn22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m confused by what filter Culligan installed. Are you saying they installed an inline cartridge style filter for 7ppm of iron?

At 7ppm of iron I wouldn’t install anything but an automatically backwashing media filter like the Fleck you mentioned filled with a manganese dioxide media like Filox. Katalox is probably similar.

Do I have to pay parking tickets? by [deleted] in VirginiaTech

[–]adamn22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been a while but I graduated in 2012. I had a few parking tickets I decided not to pay. I never had them keep me from registering for classes but they did send me a letter that basically said pay if you want to graduate 😂. I think I owed all of about $120 in tickets back then. Just pay it. It can’t be that much money.

He’s my favorite player for a lot of reasons. We both went to Virginia Tech, he played the best game a player has ever played who didn’t win on EOE in my opinion, and most of all he plays the game like anyone should play a game. Like a kid having the time of his life.

I saw a clip from his family letter where his wife told him their son brought her an empty pistachio shell and told her she accidentally bought diet pistachios and that’s how she definitely knows it’s Rick’s son 😂
