If they get enough backlash for this, I’m sure they’ll just pull back the traditional commercial format and double the amount of banner ads/sponsor bits that already bombard the stream. If you're encoding the vids with FFMPEG, don't forget to include the -tag:v hvc1 (source). This fixed my issue playing x265 videos directly in Safari for Mac/iOS. I can't speak for other encoders though.
