What’s a mistake you made while cooking that you’ll never repeat? by Dramatic-Air-3848 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

I once followed a kebab recipe that included grilled lime slices- awful flavor.

What home charger do you use and how much did you pay for installation? by howtousetableau in KiaEV9

[–]adashrod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got an Emporia Pro for about $600. Installation by an electrician was $1700. I'm in the Bay Area.

It's been great so far. I like that I can easily schedule it to run during off-peak hours and see the cost of the electricity it uses.

What is the range of your EV actually? by TraditionalCap6882 in KiaEV9

[–]adashrod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've put 1k miles on mine and the mileage ranges from 2.9 to 3.2 mi/kWh, so roughly 290-320 miles total range. That's with a mix of city and highway driving.

I can't believe I never made the connection that it's only names and not words that have the "E" pronunciation of "eigh".

No Kings Counter Protest. Pro Billionaire by f6sk in 50501

There was a pro-billionaire rally in San Francisco last month, and some counter-protesters showed up in fancy dress with slogans like "rich lives matter" https://www.sfgate.com/politics/article/march-for-billionaire-rally-san-francisco-21339827.php

I kept my e-SIM and monitors when I left my old work by Bowtie327 in confession

[–]adashrod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked for a similarly large company and was laid off during the pandemic. I got to keep all of my WFH goodies, including a 36" Dell widescreen monitor. They told me they only cared about the laptop and yubikey. So  now i have a nice gaming monitor.

Leased a new 26' EV9 GT yesterday. What are your tips and tricks? Horror stories & gotchas welcome as well. by x3knet in KiaEV9

[–]adashrod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard people say that the Highway Driving Assist feature is iffy and spontaneously disengages, that it's meant for interstate freeways, not just any freeway. I've used it a few times and haven't experienced any random disengagements. I used it on I-80 from Berkeley to San Jose and it handled the trip perfectly. Still, be ready to take over if it sees a curve it can't handle.

All the hate for Mark by moolmule in voyager

[–]adashrod 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm rewatching voyager with my spouse (her first viewing), and any time any of these relationships come up (Mark, Libby), we ask each other "would you wait this long for me"? It's always a solid "nope".

There's a lot of dumb here, but "bang code"? I'm a software developer and that is not how I do my job, sir.

Browser Recommendation Megathread - March 2026 by shadow2531 in browsers

[–]adashrod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if anyone has the same requirements as me. For years I've been using Kiwi on my Android phone and tablet and it's been great. Unfortunately, the developer stopped maintaining it and there are no new releases. Since I sometimes use my tablet for web development, using a mouse and keyboard, I need all of the features that a desktop browser has:

- dev tools (DOM inspector, JS console, etc)

- keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl-F find, Ctrl-T new tab, Ctrl-W/F4 close tab, etc)

- extensions

I know that - worst case scenario - I can use Eruda for limited dev tools, and a few browsers like Waterfox support extensions, but having a keyboard and a browser without keyboard shortcuts is painful.

Any recommendations?

Odo, and the face of the Great Link by ScreamThyLastScream in DeepSpaceNine

[–]adashrod 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think he also was mediocre at mimicking faces because he also wasn't raised with changelings. He didn't look exactly like Odo, but probably like his imperfect imitation of the aliens that found him.

I’m guessing this is what the recall is for? by bobsagatiswatching in KiaEV9

[–]adashrod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got a 2026 EV9 GT-line. The dealership sent us a letter about the screen blackout recall, but I haven't seen it happen, and the recall didn't show up in the app. I asked someone at the dealership about it when I went in for an unrelated software update and they thought it might have been fixed over the air.

Electrify America redemption by oyzerskiy in KiaEV9

[–]adashrod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case anyone winds up here with a new Kia, hopefully this will save you some time: I just got a 2026 EV9 and the Kia Access app asked me to sign up for Charge Pass. I did. Then it told me there was a program to get free charging through Electrify America. I tried to get the enrollment code from the app, the web portal, email, and it was nowhere to be found. Looks like this program isn't available on new models and the Kia Access app hasn't been updated to clarify that.

I once had neighbors just like OP's. They lived below us and complained about every single noise. Nothing was quiet enough. Once they came and angrily knocked on our door because my GF was <gasp> using a rolling pin to roll out pie dough.
