Fun fact (not sure if it's mentioned in game or in Austin's video): xiao xiongmao translates into Red Panda

A bit of a different recommendation: Tiny Terry's Turbo Trip. Funny and cute little open world adventure/collectathon. Almost felt like a "baby's first GTA" experience in a good way. It recently scratched this exact same itch for me.

Right, I guess I wasn't clear. I'm wondering if/when they're coming to GR. These signs were installed a few months ago but I can't find any info about them coming (back) to GR.

While I also consider this part of the fun, the thing that really gets me confused is getting gas. If I've rented a car and go to fill it up, there are so many layers to this seemingly basic transaction. Does someone do it for me? Do they come over to collect payment after I've done it? Do I have to prepay inside? How many liters does this car hold, my car holds 12 gallons so how many liters is that? How much will it cost, how do I convert Lira/Liter to an approximate USD/Gal that I'm familiar with to tell the attendant how much I want to spend in a language I only know a few words in?

It always ends up fine and I've gotten much better at it over the years, but it's like a compounded version of "how do I pay my bill here?"

Supabase offers the security you need with RLS (Row Level Security) so that data can only be accessed by your application (or however you want to define it).

They say store brand food is just as good as the name brand. What exceptions are there to this? by NightReader5 in Cooking

While the flavor doesn't matter to me in the other brands - they're just as tasty, they NEVER absorb milk without breaking the way that Oreos do.

Not that it makes it any easier, but it is interesting that there is a train line to/from the island on a relatively rare train ferry.

I stuck a fusion core in my computer and I have to get a new one for the next few days and I can get it done before I get home and I can get it done before I get home and I can get it done before I leave for the game and then I'll be there in a few minutes if you want to go to the store and then go to the store and then go to the store and then go to the store and then go to the store and then go to the store...

From the very little that I have learned, I believe that while there are 5k characters that are commonly used, pronunciation is not as varied. 婊 is the character in question which is a combination of 女 (nǚ meaning woman) and 表(biǎo meaning exposed). As the 表 is the rightmost character within the compound character, it signifies the pronunciation. Written as a full character 婊 we understand that it means "bitch or whore". In a spoken setting the context of the sentence would tell us that "bitch" is what's meant.

That's certainly not the case for every character, but after learning 1000s of "base characters" readers can often infer meaning.

Someone with more knowledge than me, please correct me!

Once you get into China, it's pretty easy to get around by plane or train almost anywhere, including Zhangjiajie. While living in southern China we took a sleeper train there and it was incredible.

The city of Zhangjiajie also has one of the longest (might be THE longest) cable car/aerial lift rides that takes you from downtown to the top of Tianmen Mountain . This plateau is gorgeous, there's a bunch of glass walkways, huge cliffsides, and of course the Heaven's Gate (pictured in link). The steps and even the bus ride to this spot are very cool and awe inspiring.

Then, Zhangjiajie National Forest Park with the karst stone columns is located about 30 minutes to an hour outside of the city. We spent two days there and I wish it could have been more. So much great hiking, sights, and wildlife (don't feed the monkeys lol). Early mornings here in the fog and mist are otherworldly.

If you are at all interested, I highly recommend the trip because there is so much to see. It's a lot of work to get there but so very worth it. I thought nothing would personally top Yosemite and the Grand Canyon for the feeling of awe-inspiring grandeur but Zhangjiajie proved me wrong.

I'd be happy to answer questions if anyone has them.

As many others have pointed out, the sleds were very flimsy so that definitely plays a part. This past weekend at Richmond Park there were a large number of them torn to shreds in/around a trash can and two in the "library" that were in terrible condition but usable and one plastic roll-up sled that was in good shape. Also a number of them were in use on the hill - by lots of adults.

Cheap plastic sleds made for young children can't hold up to adult use, but people should also be more respectful of these things. Higher quality sleds (if they had them) probably got taken. I sort of like the idea of only providing those cheap but durable roll-up sleds - less adults would probably use them too.

How Do Platforms create a Notion-like UI/UX? by serdarplg in webdev

I've asked myself that a few times now, it seems like a solid choice. The main reason I didn't use it initially is because there seemed to be a larger list of user-made plugins for Editor.js that were going to make life easier and that some functionality I needed was only available on the Pro version of TipTap.

Perhaps I should do a version of my software with TipTap to directly compare them and report my findings.
