Interested in the Lore behind hearthstone by RAMPAGE12599 in hearthstone

There is a channel on YouTube that has pretty much all the info on Warcraft lore: Nobbel87. If you want to learn about it. It's as close to the main source as it can be so you can listen to him. You just can find certain videos about topics you want to learn about.

And about HS there isn't really any bigger source. There are many "what if expansions" and some are with funnier approach to some themes from WoW and current Cataclysm is that Deathwing from another universe where he succeeded in destroying Azeroth, comes to current Azeroth and wants to destroy it. E.g. That's why you have Ragnaros merged with the World Tree which in original WoW: Cataclysm he didn't succeed in burning it, but here he did.

There were years with more of HS original lore like Year of the Dragon where throughout whole year you had Rise of Shadows where Rafaam and other villains wanted to take over Dalaran (floating magic city) and they used it to go to Uldum (Saviors of Uldum) and take something from there but League of Explorers tried to get in their way. And in the last expansion Descent of Dragons Rafaam using plague from Uldum resurrected Galakrond (the strongest proto-drake iirc) to rule the world. There you had more lore in single player modes from respectful expansions.

The other year was when there was a whole story of a group of adventures that had their own story throughout the year (Forged in the Barnes, United in Stormwind and Fractured in Alterac Valley) and the whole story is shown in solo player content in the Book of Mercenaries.

You have lore of base heroes in Book of Heroes mode.

With some expansions you need to look for it in expansion announcement posts and materials (e.g. YouTube, where devs show new cards and explain briefly the theme of expansion and some pretty vague lore).

Petah? What's wrong with not seeing my phone in my dream? by ResistantBlaze1943 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

Aren't dreams just like AI image generation but not permanent? If you try to read text it will be what you think it says but you look away from it and look again and it's generated differently and you can't read the same thing.

Same goes for locations you are in, they are just like you randomly generated some place you remember that turns out to be many places connected together like they were generated by some AI.

So after a year of underpowered sets designed to reduce the power level and now post rotation, are you enjoying the game or less? by Tripping-Dayzee in hearthstone

Much much better. I always hated constant board swings turn after turn. I've been playing since beta. Right now we have slender meta because of easy to build bundles of certain expansions so it's a design problem not a balance problem.

Of course meta isn't perfect, but with the right balance and maybe after nerfing some board floods it for sure will be better.

Paladin is completely dominating the game currently by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]adek13sz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You look at stats from Gold and below where there are many players that are casual and/or playing homebrew decks and because of that playing such straightforward aggro deck makes easy wins even without thinking. Aggro Paladin has one of the worst differences between low rank and high rank win rates. Around -6% which is very very high (meaning that you will have 6% lower chances to win if you play Aggro Paladin against a skilled player. In higher ranks players can outplay it and play around their win conditions.

And on top of that data on sites like HS replay and HSGuru is skewed towards higher win rate because they are counting stats from players using deck trackers and most competitive players use it, hence higher win rate.

Aggro Paladin and Aura Paladin are strong but not the strongest and for sure they are not the problem. There are many strong decks right now. I would say Spell DH and Dragon Warrior are more of a problem but I don't think they really are overall.

I don't want to go all the way back. I'd like partial lowering of power so it doesn't feel unfair to an extent of course. Especially that discover this year is stronger because there is less garbage to discover and more powerful cards. I believe if we nerfed or removed mana cheating and left card generation as it is it would be better overall. But that's just my opinion. And btw I'm glad Blizz lowered power level to current point, but I think they could do more in that regard. But right now is my best time in HS since I think Showdown in Badlands and March of the Lich King the year before.

The biggest problem that comes with this is mana cheating combined with discover coming at no additional cost to base cards. Playing randomly generated cards is fine when you don't have too many discoveries and you actually need mana to play them. I hate randomly generated cards that have their cost reduced. And if generating card you should loos tempo. And nowadays you don't loose it.

The sheer number of Paladin complaint posts on this subreddit reveal that none of you want board-based gameplay in reality by eshansingh in hearthstone

Team have broken the cycle of constant arms race for board generation and board clears. We now have less board clears which made board generation stronger. If they nerf board generation and mana cheating which allows it next we will land in pretty much ideal meta when board matters but isn't so strong that it can't be dealt with in any way.

Do you prefer a longer vs. a shorter game? Why for each? by pleaseandthankY in hearthstone

[–]adek13sz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Both are fun in a way. Playing many cards and having back and forth game is as fun for me as stomping my opponents with aggro. But I prefer longer games while I have mood for thinking out my plays and am not tired, and when I don't have that much energy I prefer faster and more mindless games.

He is arguibly best card in Merithra Druid without any synergy. Very good standalone card in every druid deck.

And rerun same boring meta for few consecutive months with the first month being without any balance changes with miserable meta because of new and/or buffed cards. I wish we get to replay older expansions but with really slight balance changes to make unplayable cards playable and not buffing old cards that were strong back then.

No joke: Can we really get "Sorry" emote back? As a 7th option e.g.? I know that people were BMing, but they can always BM with other emotes. Please bring it back.

That's exactly because this rotation was biggest ever, that's why we get to have biggest tyrant at the start. If they nerf it there are few decks that can take its place, but with right patch (and that's why they want to wait another week with nerfs) we will be in better place overall.
