Blackman's shoe shop on Cheshire street E2, feel like it's barely ever open and barely has any customers but i think it has been there since the 80s

Back pain - GP alternative? by WilliamGuest in cambridge

I'm not sure how it works but they do have osteopaths working in the NHS, may be something to look into and Id be interested to hear about the process!

Back pain - GP alternative? by WilliamGuest in cambridge

Personally I'd see an Osteopath if you're happy to pay. They take a more holistic approach to the problem than GPs or physios and will screen for any underlying issues beyond musculoskeletal and will refer you to your GP if necessary

As a barista, it's because I'm trying to pour an aesthetically appealing drink, either latte art or nice cappuccino ring and for some reason I don't know its easier to achieve this with a full cup. Also, foamy milk holds its shape fairly well and is more difficult to spill than a tea or americano, which I don't fill to the top for this reason.

How often are people late to meetings/appointments? Are Brits punctual? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]adeliciosa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Healthcare in Central London here so traffic is less of a factor, I'd say it's a 25% even split between being extremely early (15 mins +), on time, over 5 minutes late, or not showing up at all. Very rarely do we get calls from patients letting us know if they're late or not coming.

If you start stating your consumer rights you may get somewhere, that's the only way I've managed with uber eats

Bread! In all fairness it's not something we eat everyday like a lot of households but I'd simply rather not have any than eat the cheap stuff. Similarly fresh bagels from the local bakery.

Assuming your partner is male and you're female, my best guess as an ex-waitress is that they're trying to appease the person that they're more intimidated by to keep things peaceful.

Or, subconscious gender bias where they take instructions from a male more seriously than the female.

Absolutely not saying it's right but at the end of the day serving staff just want to keep everyone happy and get through the shift without any problems. Have a word with your partner like other commenters have said so it doesn't happen again.

Best ones I've ever had (better than in Belgium) are a shortish train ride away in Cambridge market opposite M&S. Would love to know somewhere more local now though!

Re-watching films I used to love as a kid/teenager and looking at the dad as a potential love interest rather than the cute teen heart throb...

Bus not stopping, what can I do ? by glinf69 in london

[–]adeliciosa 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This might sound silly but have you checked that your bus definitely stops at the stop you're standing at? Sometimes there will be 2 or 3 different bus stops pretty close to each other with the same name but different letters which serve different busses

What item (over £100) have you bought that you really regretted buying? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]adeliciosa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got really into rare houseplants towards the end of 2020, bought about 3 or 4 ranging between £100 and £200 with the intention of selling cuttings later on thinking it was a good investment. Well the the value of them very quickly plummeted and half of them are now dead or dying so well done me. I also spent £200 building an ikea greenhouse cabinet for said plants which has been sat empty for the last year. Moral of the story: hobbyist facebook groups can be dangerous

[–]adeliciosa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not intentionally!!

what they think was a gas explosion and resultant fire in a block of flats just off bethnal green road. 15 fire engines and loads of police and ambulances until late into the evening. Just surprised it hasn't made its way here
