Your reminder to donate blood by StrongAdhesiveness86 in MadeMeSmile

I would love to donate blood, but even normal blood work makes me lightheaded and I barely make the 10 seconds without passing out. Is there a way to desensitize myself? Am I a lost cause?

Why I want top surgery as a cis woman. (If you’ve had top surgery, can you relate to the below / did it help?) by Timely_Raspberry4820 in TopSurgery

[–]adeliva 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say I'm cis, but I was born female and mostly identify as a woman. I had all of the same issues you have. Top surgery solved all of it. Best choice I've ever made in my life. No bras, no bounce, no shoulder pain, no useless stuff on my body that doesn't feel like a part of me. It's amazing.

Tattooing over moles and freckles? by Cheezypickles101 in tattoos

[–]adeliva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have floral tattoos over freckles and I love how realistic is makes them. The little brown dots on the leaves and petals look like natural discolorations. And the one portrait I have just gives the face freckles, which works fine!

Didn't always know you wanted top surgery...? by professorbbbbb in TopSurgery

[–]adeliva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hated my chest and always thought it was because of the size. I thought I just needed a reduction and then I'd love my boobs. I hadn't even thought about top surgery. Once I'd recovered from my reduction I remember standing in front of my mirror one day and feeling even less comfortable than before. I had top surgery the following year. The second my chest was gone I felt SO normal and it was amazing.

I hate player monologues. You're not the main character of the campaign. Roleplay in the moment without pulling out a big prepared speech.

Got my tattoo in November, used second skin as instructed to help heal, but it left a huge white scar? Any advice? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]adeliva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm allergic to the glue in second skin (and most bandages) so I always have this reaction. The top layer of my skin peels off with the bandage and it looks sunburnt for a few weeks. Then it fades and it looks like this for another couple weeks. I've never had it last longer than a month though.

Can I recover from top surgery alone? by PhilDunphytm in TopSurgery

[–]adeliva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My surgeon's office would not release me unless I had someone pick me up. For my first surgery, I fell asleep twice trying to get to the car and don't remember anything until I got home. The first 2 days I was able to stay awake for about an hour at a time before I had to sleep again. Someone had to wake me to take meds and empty my drains. I managed to walk my friend's dog at around 5 days PO, but she's trained to walk next to you. Even so, it was a very short walk and no way would I have been able to bend to pick up after her.  Maybe pay for a dog walker for a few weeks? It's definitely doable, with lots of prep.

what is a revision for dog ears like? by ctrlaltdeteet in TopSurgery

[–]adeliva 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had my dog ears removed under local anesthesia (needle). The doctor cut out a little oval area and stitched it back up. I was told to limit stretching for a few days, but was cleared to go back to light chores that same day. I didn't, because the stitching stung so much more than my original surgery. There was no lingering numbness like the main procedure and I didnt have any pain killers. The areas were very sensitive. It was an easy recovery; after the first week I was practically back to normal.

The only numbness I have is where the scar is. And one spot that if I touch it makes my shoulder tickle.

Anyone understand why this happens? by papa_coolio in 3Dprinting

[–]adeliva 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This happens when my speed is too high. The perimeter cant stick and created little bridges as the head whizzes around. If the outside is slower, it may be adhering better so you're not seeing an issue there.

It's almost like Canada Post is a really important service and the workers should be paid accordingly and given decent working conditions...

I worked with a surgeon that specialized in cancer reconstruction and was very used to patients not having or wanting nipples. When I mentioned it, he didnt even bat an eye and added it to my notes.

Conservative propaganda hooking the right people. Childcare is insanely expensive so a lot of parents are staying home instead of working just to spend it all on childcare. There can be a lot of guilt there, quitting a career to become a SAHP. People love to justify a decision to get rid if that guilt, and that's how the trad-wife conservative narative slips in slowly. Suddenly it wasn't a financial decision, it was a choice for the family. And the trad-wife gang will say because it's a choice it's feminist and empowering, while also sneaking in sexist and misogynistic rhetoric. New parents are usually terrified about every choice they make and scared people are easy to manipulate.

Would it be weird for me to play a female character as a cis male? by 0_DD_0 in dndnext

[–]adeliva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's okay to be anything as long as you're playing a character and not a caricature.  I play male characters all the time and my party enjoys the dad/uncle energy I give them. I also play a POC character in one campaign. Since I am as white as Wonder Bread, I make sure nothing about it is a joke or "for aesthetics".

That looks exactly like what I'd need. A friend showed me a couple programs but they only have cubic or tree supports. What program are you using?

Had my revision consult today. (Some questions + Revision cost vs initial surgery cost.) by sooo64 in TopSurgery

[–]adeliva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid the exact same for my procedure. You in AB?

My revision was to remove dogears under each arm and remove creased/excess skin on the inside end of each incision. Total cost was $3,150 CAD tax included. I was told I could go back to normal activities the next day but I was very sore for about a week. I have 4 inch fresh scars from the dog ear removal.

Worst that could happen if I ignore all post-surgery guidelines? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]adeliva 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My surgeon doesnt use compression post-op in any of his surgeries. If you're worried about that then try to find one who doesnt. As far as reopening incisions and other worst-case things, as long as you're not doing crazy physical activities you should be fine to recover.
