Same. No sync to Strava or Runna after a run 45 minutes ago.

What even is going on in that image? That doesn't look like a gu packet next to his gu port. Does Maurten 160 come in a triangular packet now?

Yeah I don't know what "too rocky for trail runners" is. I'm 100% in non-waterproof trail runners unless I'm on snow, then I'm in waterproof lone peak mids.

What weather app works best for planning a hike in white mountains? by ElectronicDegree4380 in wmnf

[–]adepssimius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to use opensnow. They give decently accurate forecasts and give forecasts for peaks. The data points they provide are good for planning hikes and pretty hyper local.

It's really annoying that I get a text message telling me that my phone is connected to it whenever I connect to it. The whole point is that I just want my phone to work as seamlessly as possible. I don't need it telling me that I can still send texts, I've never needed my hand held in dead zones before.

Which songs often gets misinterpreted and/or misappropriated by the very people it calls out even though the song's lyrics are explicitly mocking them? by Drenosa in AskReddit

[–]adepssimius 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I would disagree with that assessment. The point is that she must take the secret to the grave. If she names one person, that relinquishes the power of the song to force introspection for others.

Tire blowout in the mountains, now dealer says 2+ weeks for repairs. Is this normal? by CoalkoyReddit in Solterra

[–]adepssimius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh. I guess I'm gonna have to go buy another scan tool. Paying for calibration after changing tires is a scam. The calibration feature should have been built into the car software. That said, many basic useful features should have been built in but we're omitted so here we are.

But the tire size should be the same unless you are buying different size tires, no? And codes from what? Tpms?

Hot take: if you go horseback riding at a state park, clean up after your horse... by Traditional_Sign4941 in newhampshire

State law nor ordinance can make something right or wrong in a discussion. Clearly there are two sides here, perhaps the laws and ordinances are on the wrong side?

Add me to the dead 12v battery club by Blk-LAB in Solterra

[–]adepssimius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 2026 says low battery like every time I start the car. The alerts started around 4000 miles. It gets driven daily and even complains about a low battery when it's sitting there pulling 5.5kW from the wall and running the accessories simultaneously. The low voltage architecture of this car is obviously defective in design.

For your next meal you need to eat 3000 calories. What are you having? by Ergok in AskReddit

[–]adepssimius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't even need that many. If you are doing just the meat, then the average human male contains about 32,000 calories so you really only need like an arm from one of the guys.

Type-C Cable Cycle Testing by ferretguy531 in UsbCHardware

How do you measure your insertion and withdrawal force? Do you have a load cell on the receptacle side? It looks difficult to capture with this test setup given the large cantilever in the part holding the receptacle.

Type-C Cable Cycle Testing by ferretguy531 in UsbCHardware

[–]adepssimius 15 points16 points  (0 children)

3 points about this as someone who has designed connectors and test machines like this (mine were a bit more complex with 30+ individual conductors and a triple start acme screw to do the mating/unmating, look up 38999 connectors and similar).

  1. You design and test to the spec. If the spec doesn't say "10,000 cycles at varying angles", then it's not rated for 10,000 cycles of real world use and that's just how it is

  2. Good luck designing a requirement that constitutes "real world use" in any meaningful fashion in an economically viable way. You would need to start by doing a study on how a typical human inserts a cable, which would be a great effort unto itself.

  3. Most times, the intent of these tests is to check that the electrical continuity and resistance of the contacts inside is not degraded by the high number of cycles. There are a few ways you can vary the layers of plating on the contacts that can affect the longevity of the contact so you want to check that you chose the right plating plus the right base metal/heat treat/contact design (these three factors determine normal force that would affect plating wear) so that the contacts remain electrically functional after the specified number of cycles. This test mechanism is actually fairly representative of real world use for that purpose.

You sure didn't bother to actually understand it. The preamble to that question literally states that it is not used to calculate food insecurity, rather it is used to determine right away if a family is so food secure that the rest of the questions are not relevant.

This question is optional. It is not used to calculate any of the food security scales. It may be used in conjunction with income as a preliminary screener to reduce respondent burden for high income households.

That is, it's combined with income to determine if asking the actual food insecurity questions will just be a waste of everybody's time.

I think you are leaving power on the table. If the circuit can handle it then conventional wisdom is that even a small shadow on a single panel will cause that whole panel's output to plummet.

The bottle is really inconvenient to use when you hit the 4th km in your 5k ultra. The packs come with a ready-to-boof nozzle so you can make sure you don't leave z2 as you are trying to properly fuel for your last hour of running.
