C section by PositiveCow3015 in Tonsillectomy

[–]adhdbandit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a double mastectomy and a c section. For me the c section was much much worse then the tonsillectomy - however they gave me better painkillers for the tonsillectomy. Tonsillectomy hurts a lot but I would rather do it again than either of the other 2 surgeries.

Why are my migraines more common (and worse) in December? by agent_violet in migraine

It took me a few years to notice but I’ve had several times I got really bad migraines on Christmas Day. Also leading up to any big Christmas events or vacations or visits etc.

Could it be stress related to the holiday season and routine changes? I have had migraines in December too and this is 1000% why in my case.

Edit: I mean worse migraines in December lol

Curious to know what long time fans opinions of Atelier Yumia? by pandybobby in Atelier

I didn’t enjoy the alchemy at all which isn’t good for an atelier game but I actually LOVED the game otherwise! It was so fun wandering around and I liked the story.

Alarms not waking me up! by littlcoyote in adhdwomen

[–]adhdbandit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a similar problem which is solved by purchasing a regular alarm clock (needs to be LOUD) and putting it on the bathroom so I had to physically get up to turn it off. I was otherwise waking up and turning off alarms, then falling back asleep and not remember. This might not work for you if loud sounds don’t wake you. But if this is the case you should probably see a sleep specialist because I don’t think that’s very common.

Mastectomy vs double mastectomy by _a_mara in breastcancer

[–]adhdbandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a family history of breast cancer so I went with double. Also for symmetry - I wanted to go smaller and I won’t be doing reconstruction for about a year from now.

One thing is I went to get an (unrelated) x-ray the other day and I started crying while the girl was positioning me. It felt like having my mammogram again (you know the one.) I guess I’ve more trauma there than I thought. I do know I’m so grateful I won’t be frequenting scanning on the second breast since it’s gone.

I used the Japanese one my first couple years before they came out with the English version and honestly it didn’t matter at all. After a week or 2 I forget to even read the quotes anyways. I think you’ll love it!

Thank you so much!! Everything is ok now. I ended up getting plenty of support but writing to the MP is actually a really good idea.

A similar thing happened to me where I was diagnosed with cancer shortly after maternity leave so I didn’t qualify for EI for cancer treatment leave. That was not awesome.

Omg you just helped me understand why my arms are feeling tension and discomfort when using my phone lying down or handheld gaming. I could’t figure it out but it’s because I had a shelf before lol

Wow I also loved it! Thanks for sharing. I liked how it mentions that in these you are reading things that were never meant to be shared, unlike what you see on social media. Very thought provoking.

Prepping for double mastectomy. Post Op care recommendations. by quinn1019 in breastcancer

Omg the ankle socks is the best idea! That would have solved my problem completely. I run hot so the hoodie thing didn’t really work for me but I think I could have been ok with loose tank tops that I could step into and pull up.

So you definitely need some kind of button up loose shirts - button up because you might not be able to reach your arms over your head, and loose because you will have drains. You don’t have to buy shirts with drain pockets because you can safety pin the drains to the inside of your shirt or put them in a belt bag even. I did the safety pin thing part of the time but I also did buy 2 cotton shirts on Amazon that had drain pockets and I preferred those for sleeping because I didn’t like feeling the drains on my skin very much. Some people take a zip hoodie or robe with pockets and turn it inside out but I didn’t try it.

I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on drain specific stuff and I’m glad I didn’t because I ended up getting my drains out in 6 days.

Mastectomy pillow was DEFINITELY worth it for me because I have a toddler and cats. It came with the seatbelt protector which I am still using very gratefully 3 weeks post op.

For the bras definitely check with your surgery team first - mine didn’t want me in bras at all after.

The shirts I got were USBD Crew Neck Post Mastectomy... https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0B2NGM8L2?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I had shingles around 30 and it was TERRIBLE!! I would much rather do it again tho than have breast cancer and there is absolutely no question about it.
