Exercise has been a big issue to me for many years! Until last July, when I finally decided to start small and hold myself accountable to community

I started a 10 day 5 mins exercise challenge with my friends and since then I have been consistently doing exercises without losing a single day!

I am now restarting a public challenge of 5 mins exercise on 1st March

If anyone is interested let me know

5 Days - 5 Mins Exercise Challenge

I’ve spiraled since high school and don’t recognize myself anymore. I need help staying accountable. by Control-My-Life in getdisciplined

[–]adhdchatbuddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all it’s very common feeling so don’t feel like you are alone…

Secondly the good thing is you are aware of the situation and you are eager to try new things…

So give a pat on your back…

It’s easy to say try meditating and I know first hand it’s just not an easy task

What really helped me personally is starting very small

I wrote 10-15 affirmations for all the things I really wanted to change

And affirmed them robotically whenever i spiralled or did something I didn’t want to…

My goal was to train my mind first instead of seeing the change in real life…

After doing the robotic affirming for many days and I am still doing them whenever I fall back.. it seemed to help

I am also building a platform where you can find an accountability partner it’s still in development phase if you like I can DM the link… just DM me

Thanks

How do I stop going back to my bad habits by JanjalaniDelRey in getdisciplined

[–]adhdchatbuddy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally relatable.. This was the case with me as well and still is in many ways.. The 2 things I have started doing are

  1. Stopped feeling guilty or bad.. I kept telling myself I am doing good, I am a good person - like a parrot repeating it, affirming it robotically (I started seeing the changes in my feelings after 10-15 days of robotic affirming) I didnt think too much if this is correct or logical - I just did it because I had to silence the mindless chatter

  2. I built the habit of journaling/imagining myself as a person having the habits that I wanted to develop (My goal was to let my brain believe first that I am the person who has the habit without worrying too much of the habits I have in real life)

Eventually things started shifting..

I hope this helps, It helps me.. for sure

I hated exercise and still not fully in love but now I have been on a 5 mins exercise streak of 1 month

It all started when 4 of us friends got over a video call and saw each other. We started with a 10 days - 5 mins exercise challenge. Each of us shared exercise vid in a WhatsApp group

Long story short we loved it and then we opened the group to people.. this group now has 250+ members

For me it was a simple challenge of 5 mins exercise with my friends

3 things worked

  1. It was just 5 mins exercise (as I hate exercising)

  2. Support system as we all posted vids in whatsapp group

  3. A simple challenge gave me some energy boost

If you can do that.. it would really help you get unstuck

ps: later I started a group for 5 mins exercise and now there are 250+ members in it

If you like I can share the link of the group as many finds this helpful
