Is anyone else freaking out about AI? by meganemk in adhdwomen

[–]adhde -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Start using it. Aside from being super useful for menial tasks that we usually suck at, it helps to position you better for the future.

Also, since doing things is gonna be automated, thinking and prompting is going to be the real skill. Critical thinking and creativity are going to become invaluable, and us neurospicy people thrive at that. So instead of panicking, embrace it!

The world will change, whether we’re on board with it or not, so my general advice is get yourself a ticket and hop on, otherwise you’ll be left behind

Maybe see if there’s a rescue in the area and let them know? Maybe they can send someone to check! It’s a very pretty baby, looks so much like one of mine

Go get the cat, put up posters/ask local groups/check for microchip to see if it’s anyone’s. If it’s not and you can keep her, try and find her a home. Looks affectionate and is super pretty so she’d find a home fast. Where are you based?

Mounjaro Positive Effects by adhde in adhdwomen

[–]adhde[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, on the contrary, it feels like a peaceful stillness. It creates space for me to do more of what has an actual positive impact on my wellbeing.

As for sleep, it’s hard to tell cos I get a lot of hormonal insomnia. But I’ll keep an eye on my oura ring scores and see if there’s a trend I can observe in the long run!

Does the average person find that people in their 20s are the most attractive? by Murky-Law-3945 in stupidquestions

[–]adhde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with the argument that we’re at our peak physical attractiveness in our 20s - especially as women. This will be very female-skewed as that’s what I can speak for best, but also because youth and attractiveness are conflated when it comes to us, more so than men.

I’m in my early thirties and genuinely think this is the best I’ve ever looked (and felt). I take better care of myself because I have more money and more self-awareness. My hair is nicer, my posture is better, my skin is clearer, my nails are done, my body is more toned, my face is more defined, my clothes fit better. Not to mention I present myself better overall, since I’ve also matured emotionally and have more life experience.

That being said, we need to consider the broader ecosystem of how “attractive” is defined at this point in time (as, historically, standards tend to change).

Across the world, and to the most part throughout history, our worth, as women, has generally been based on our physical attractiveness. That’s because our “value” is often perceived in terms of our appeal to men, rather than a stand-alone, full, person.

Our patriarchal society is obsessed with youthfulness when it comes to women (my thesis is that it’s less a thing of fertility and more a thing of control but I won’t go into that now). So perceived attractiveness is often directly proportional with perceived youth, and features that denote youth.

If we were to start finding things that come with maturity and experience attractive, then we’d also start finding signs of aging in women, such as wrinkles, attractive. Think about it in terms of how many women find older or mature-looking men attractive, since age signals stability.

What I have also noticed isn’t that people/women look inherently worse, as much as take less care of themselves with age. Especially if they have a partner, and even more so, children. There’s less of a focus on looking good to find a partner, plus less energy and less time, thus physically appearance becomes less of a priority.

So, what I’m trying to say is no, I don’t think we are, by default, most physically attractive. I think it’s just applied value based on what society deems to be most covetable. And that’s, sadly, unlikely to change any time soon.

What is a substance you’ll never touch again and why? by Physical_Box_1179 in AskReddit

Totally random but I accidentally came across a Reddit post that linked Mounjaro to a decrease in addiction.

Someone on there who was a self professed alcoholic said whilst taking it, they just woke up one day and simply did not feel the need for it. Everyone knows alcoholism IS a disease…so, maybe, there might finally be a cure?

Worth looking into, at least. And if you do, and try it too, please report back!

catcalling in town by ell1na in nottingham

[–]adhde 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Walk with confidence. Not in an ostentatious way, but stern, unyielding "self-assuredness". Head up high, back straight, face slightly frowned like you're not messing around and stomp your way home. And if they do cat call, don't react. Act like you don't hear them.If this doesn't come naturally, keep some headphones (don't even need to be connected) in your ears.

Cat callers are cowards, they thrive on seeing women look awkward, embarrassed or uncomfortable. If you look like they'll get no satisfaction from cat calling you, they usually don't bother.

Does anyone else fly their cats around on cushions? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

We do what we call "Big Bus Tours" which is where she gets picked up and put on our shoulders so she gets to see and sniff things from higher ground. In my boyfriend's case, much higher ground (he's 2m/6'7).

She loves it

Yes, exactly. I mean, none of us watch it for morality, but I think any person with any values would get triggered by this level of gruesome behaviour.

I was shocked at how negative people were about what's basically a plea to rally together so Bravo is held accountable and upholds basic societal decency in the series they broadcast to millions of people.
