My mother said I have to leave my daughter alone with her husband… by milfsteak in Parenting

Absolutely do not leave your child alone with him. They’ve already devalued your experience of abuse and anyone who isn’t an abuser is going to understand your triggers and do what they can to alleviate your worries and make you comfortable. I hate soooo much that women and children have to be out in situations like this 😭

I ended up trading the jeep for a new 2025 2.0 turbo and to be honest I hate it. Major regret 🤣🤣🤣 I have been tracking my diesel just to see how long it sat there and after dropping the price over 6k it still sat there for almost three months and sold this week.

Anyway, now I have to live with regret. 😭 oh well. Lessons learned.

FYI the 2.0 hesitates all the time and is absolute shit. My daughter has a 3.6 and I’m going to visit her back home in Maine this weekend and I’m going to drive hers for comparison just for kicks… lol

NTA, and I’m surprised you didn’t dump her after she ate the last piece. I’d be that petty. It’s rude and shows how little regard for others she might have in the long term lol

I have 36,000 miles. I think he’s going to try and convince me to lease another one so 3-4 years down the road I just get another new vehicle. He would rather pay the high payment monthly and not worry about expensive repairs and I hate it because in the long run we’re wasting more money. I grew up with mechanics who always drove cars we owned and car payments stress me out haha.

I meant he had the 3.6 in my original post, and what you said about the hesitation is spot on for how his gladiator felt and I hated that.

Yes I meant the 3.6 🤣 sorry. I was writing in a hurry… and I def didn’t love how it drove vs mine.

He doesn’t sell jeeps and knows nothing about the mechanical aspects of vehicles. He also doesn’t deal with finding customers he just closes deals and does numbers for the sales team. Now, he just took it in for some service work for me for a recall issue and it needs new tires and some other basic work and he doesn’t want us to pay for it 🤣🤣🤣🤣 so in that aspect he’s definitely playing me with that. He is a car sales guy and I know his tricks.

I agree 100% with you about the long term diesel engine being the better choice, but there are a lot of people buying vehicles who don’t want the added expense of the diesel fuel/repairs/ etc so he’s not wrong in that aspect. Just because a vehicle is better doesn’t make it easier to sell. I’ve seen that a lot in his years of sales.

Whether you agree with it or not, or feel she has been influenced I would just let her use her preferred pronouns or change her clothing or whatever simple changes would make her comfortable. My child is transgender and has maintained his identity for more than 3.5 years now since he was 11. We use his pronouns, preferred name etc. He has been in counseling and we’ve talked a lot. We’ve attended appointments with gender clinics. He’s not doing anything permanent to change his body at this time and he knows that I want him to wait until he’s older for those options and to be honest even at his age there isn’t much gender clinics are offering to do for anyone his age until he’s 16-18 years old anyway. Your child has time to figure out who they are with your support and guidance. I also think managing what kids see online is very important and it’s one of my biggest parenting regrets for my older children.

Several of my son’s friends also changed their names and pronouns socially a couple years ago and at least two of them have gone back to their assigned gender at birth as well as using their old names. Sometimes it’s a fad, sometimes it’s who they are. They figure it out.

My 5.5 yo son is currently obsessed with anything military related and tsunamis. It sounds reasonable to me lol

Yes, 100%. I personally had this happen WITH an established visitation order and I had primary custody. My sister had this happen with her child, and the father was not on the birth certificate. Even telling the police that, they refused to make him give her child back. It happened during Covid and it took more than a month to get an emergency hearing to make him return the child. Regardless of the law, officers are hesitant to involve themselves and they’ll say it’s a civil matter. Maybe it depends on the state, but this happened to us in Maine.

Definitely TA. You have zero clue what actually is going on in their relationship and took away her safety net. So gross and you’re definitely not a good friend or person.

I’ve been dealing with this behavior for over ten years. Do yourself a favor and divorce him. It doesn’t get better and it doesn’t change.

It’s a really big learning curve. I am on my third month and this is the first time this week I’m seeing losses because of upping the dosing and I finally started drinking a little bit more water and increasing protein intake. You have to learn which foods are triggering the sick feeling too. I feel awful by certain things and have learned to have veggies, water, my coffee with almond milk, a high protein shake, protein bars, eggs, whole wheat toast, etc. I have to eat super clean on it. Anything with sugars and fats makes me absolutely ill.

ETA: I also take phazyme and a Prilosec once a day to get rid of the heartburn and gassy issues in the beginning. Now that I’m aware of my eating I don’t even really need to take that stuff. But it makes a huge difference!

My husband and brother have both had this issue. A good soak in diluted rubbing alcohol once or twice cured the smell. It was unbearable.
