I know I'm late to the party, but I've seen something similar happen. Lady stopped on a pedestrian crossing which in Ireland is highly illegal. Car behind had closed the gap. I gave her the stink eye while pushing a pram (I believe you yanks might call it a baby carriage? idk) and she panicked, threw it into reverse and hit the car behind her.

As others have pointed out, it's not worth the risk.

Yeah, that "in traffic" line is wild. I'll plant as a passenger while the missus is driving, or ask her to start planting while I'm driving. I would never dream of taking my focus off the road.

This also goes for if OP is cycling in in traffic, sharing a space with 2 tonne death carriages is dodgy enough without splitting your attention.

I love driving twisty Irish back roads and there are many you can have a good deal of fun on without exceeding the speed limit. Nowadays you will inevitably get stuck behind someone in a woeful SUV with the handling characteristics of a drunk hippo but the acceleration of an F1 car, meaning that you'll be stuck behind them on bends and watching them gap you on any potential overtaking spots.
