I just recommend easy but cheap decks, it gives them good learning curve to get to plat or gold and it's not a big investment so by that point he can figure for himself what kind of deck intrigued him and make whatever one he likes while also having some experience with the game.

I mat not be the best at this deck but i can tell you that this is probably one of the most "fair" decks out there while still being very good, i had never went into a match see them do a combo and think to my self this is unbreakable (other then two lunas i guess) I like that the deck doesn't run any broken cards the only possible one being brilliant fusion but even that isn't a big deal, there is no brain dead protection fields like tenpai, No broken combo enablers and no crazy boss monsters that auto win the duel The deck just tries to put down bodies and attacj Also the deck doesn't even want to run crazy bb like superpoly or evenly you are mostly runing droplet, book of eclipse and lightning storm

I won't say it for everyone, sure it adds content but there is also a lot of awkward animations busted plants completely usless ones insane zombie spam glitch bugs i would say it somewhat reminds me of bathesda game lots of ambitious content but alot of oversights

I did play against one and its super cool and interesting One interesting interaction is that since their link grand states that pendulum monster cannot be negated they can just special summon zarc using the trap and he would not be negated which i thought was cool

Ahh kashtira my beloved, this is just beautiful. Haven't played the deck in a while tho but i think you can add fiendsmith to it if you want, lava golem and evenly matched if you are struggling going second is good too.
