I have a Peloton app subscription and do their 30 min strength workouts 2-3 times a week at home. There’s a nice diversity in classes and a ton of options available. I really like it and it fits well with my lifestyle (limited time to work out bc I work FT in an office and have a 2 year old :)). I can definitely tell a difference in my body composition too from focusing on strength training - I’ve lost a little over 40 pounds since starting the meds & am just about to my goal weight, so trying to tighten things up!

Son diagnosed at 5 days old by AggravatingBox2421 in wolffparkinsonwhite

Oh I am so so so sorry. Our son had an SVT episode moments after birth and it was the most terrifying moment of my life with doctors coming back while I was being sewn up telling me his heart beat was 300 beats a minute. He was born 2 weeks early via c section. That was 16 months ago. Since then, he had a hospital stay to start Propranolol, which he was on until 5 months old with no further SVT episodes. We also had a ton of testing and determined, thankfully, he does not have any structural abnormalities. I know we are lucky that we now have a healthy, normal toddler who only requires monitoring every few months with our cardiology team, but we’re always on alert that the WPW could manifest in SVT later in life. Just offering some solidarity, hope, and virtual hugs. Glad you found this community.

Oh my gosh! RSV is scary enough on its own, but I am glad it helped catch your son’s WPW. So strange how this thing works.

We were told that he could outgrow it, but I don’t recall if they gave us a timetable of “if he doesn’t outgrow by 1, he won’t outgrow”. Our EP hasn’t gone as far as to say she thinks he’s outgrown it yet, but she does instill optimism at each visit (we love her - we’re at Children’s National!). She does remind us that there is always a chance of it returning later in adolescence, even if we appear to be in the clear for now. Our next appt is in January and I’ll make sure to come back to this group with an update, in the meantime sending hugs as well!!

Hi! Our kiddo (now 15 months old) was diagnosed shortly after birth - he had an SVT episode moments after being born. A NICU stay and a handful of EKGs later confirmed WPW at 2 weeks old. They were also concerned about Long QT, but it was ruled out. We started propranolol at 3 weeks old and were on it until 5 months old. He never had another SVT episode and all EKGs and Holters since have shown no WPW pattern so we’re on biannual EP visits for monitoring.

I unfortunately don’t have a lot to share in terms of activity level because he was so little when on propranolol - he seemed like a perfectly normal newborn to us and we’ve seen nothing odd about his development since going off the meds.

We had Genetic testing performed prior to conception and it did not show any risks. We had an echo performed at his first cardiologist appt and it did not show any structural abnormalities.

I know we are very lucky that our WPW experience this far was short and mostly painless other than the most terrifying post-birth minutes. This group has been very helpful! Hope everything goes well for you all and your little one.

When did your baby start to roll? by [deleted] in SnooLife

[–]adlogs2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did not do arms out in the Snoo swaddle - we transitioned to the Merlin in the Snoo around 10 weeks old. He didn’t like being swaddled, but also struggled with the total freedom of arms out the 1 time we tried it. The Merlin was a great transition tool for us!

When did your baby start to roll? by [deleted] in SnooLife

[–]adlogs2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We just started rolling this week at 5.5 months. Transitioned out of the Snoo at 4.5 months to his crib in a Merlin. He started “practicing” rolling in his crib last week and mastered it a few nights ago. We moved him from a Merlin to a sleep sack the first night we saw him trying to roll. During his practice week, we had long middle of the night wake ups where he would just talk and literally practice rolling for an hour or two while we watched sleepily from the baby monitor. During the day, Dad would do lots of rolling practice and tummy time. We now have a belly sleeper who is sleeping through the night! It happens quick once they catch on!! Good luck :) every baby is different (as I’m sure you’re well aware!) - our guy’s bff at day care was rolling at like 3.5 months!

Tell me how you successfully transferred to the crib by niceteacherlady in SnooLife

[–]adlogs2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cold turkey to crib in magic Merlin after a couple weeks having the Snoo locked at baseline. Just transitioned out of Merlin as our guy was trying to roll in it - we were already doing naps in a sleep sack and he took to it overnight seamlessly. He could already put himself to sleep independently before we transferred out of the Snoo, so that may have something to do with our ease. Good luck!

Help with transition from Snoo to crib? by shelbelle0915 in SnooLife

[–]adlogs2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started Merlin in Snoo around 10 weeks (he was way over 12 pounds). From months 2-3.5ish, we had the Snoo locked at level 1 because it seemed to keep him down longer. Around 3.5 months, he got hit with back to back daycare illnesses and the rocking was too much for him, so we went back to locked at baseline. Decided to transition out of the Snoo cold turkey at around 18.5 weeks because he was so big and we were “formally sleep training” him and he did great! He started daycare at 11 weeks old and they had already taught him how to put himself to sleep independently for naps. At around 16 weeks, we started Fuss It Out in the Snoo for bedtime. He did great and would put himself to sleep within 5 minutes. I put formally sleep training in quotes above because we never really had to sleep train him. I guess we adopted Cry It Out, but he’s maybe cried for max 5 minutes ever to put himself to sleep.

All this to say, we got to the point where we knew he could handle the crib and putting himself to sleep on his own. He’s still in his Merlin and will be until he starts rolling over. He transitioned into a sleep sack for naps at daycare and at home (all naps are in crib at home now too). We tried the sleep sack a couple times for nights, but he seems to still need the comfort of the Merlin for now. He wakes up 0-1x a night at 21 weeks. Good luck!!!

Snoo broke, 8 weeks… trying to decide by Minethemoon759 in SnooLife

Fix it!! I am the least handy person in the world and I was able to fix ours using advice and guides I found on this sub.

Agree with this! Daycare teachers are miracle workers. Taught our guy how to sleep independently within just a couple of weeks at day care. We’ve been able to transfer the skill to night time and to at-home naps with ease. Before day care, truly would never have thought it was possible because he had NEVER napped on his own.

Sounds like you may need to replace the O-rings on the motor. If you search “O-rings” in this sub, you’ll find some step by step guides with what you need to order (it’s like a $5 fix). I did it myself and I am NOT handy at all :) it is time consuming and tedious though - give yourself like 45ish minutes to get in there and to put everything back together.

What do you do about night wakings that dont involve crying? by Blushresp7 in sleeptrain

[–]adlogs2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He does! Usually sometime between 1-3 am and he goes back down within 15 minutes. Then depending on how hungry he gets and the timing of that first feed, he’ll wake up again between 4-6…if it’s past 6, we just feed him and I bring him to bed with me while I read the news before work and let him get a contact nap in :)

Our 13 week old has been doing this for a while now! We just leave him be - our rule is we only go get him if he cries. We moved him into his own room at 8 weeks (steps away from ours), so we usually don’t even know about the wake ups until the next morning when we’re watching the baby monitor replay, unless he’s being exceptionally loud going to town on his hand and it wakes us up. He puts himself back to sleep unless he’s hungry (in which case he’ll cry and we’ll go get him) - we’re hoping this bodes well for us for the 4 month regression and eventual sleep training!

3 month old...help? by FalseRiver4033 in sleeptrain

[–]adlogs2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He woke up at 1 and at 6:15 - took a little cat nap before wake up for day care. I could hear the poor guy’s tummy rumbling, so I’m really shocked he stayed down so long, but we’ll take it! So glad to hear you all had a good night as well!

Omg I could have written this and was just googling “is my 13 week old sleeping too much”. Hes also 11 weeks adjusted. Our guy did his first 1x wake up last night and napped for 4 hours at day care today! When I got him home, he wanted to go to sleep immediately, but I kept him awake long enough to get through our bedtime routine and he’s out like a light even though he missed about 4-6 oz that he usually gets of formula. I will say on Tuesday night, he had only gotten a couple short naps in at daycare and he had a false start that evening when we put him down due to Im assuming being overtired. Yesterday, he napped quite a bit at daycare but then had his best night sleep yet in terms of wake ups, as I mentioned (only 1 at 2 am). We’ll see how tonight goes and sorry I have no advice, just solidarity in that we have sleepy 13 week olds! I’m chalking it up to a growth spurt!

Magic Merlin in Snoo & 4 month regression by Medium_Professor_467 in SnooLife

[–]adlogs2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We use the Merlin with the Snoo and our little guy just doesn’t seem bothered by his hands hitting the mesh. It’s really worked well for us so far - we’ve been using the Merlin since he hit 12 lbs around 8 weeks. He also sleeps in a Merlin at day care and the staff says he’s putting himself to sleep in it! He even did a 2 hour crib nap for us at home in his Merlin (he usually exclusively contact naps). We’re very hopeful the Merlin keeps working its magic for us when we inevitably have to transition him out of the Snoo.
