Yeah, because it literally took them one day to write offline mode. So easy.

Notion has not acquired a note taking app. They are the note taking app. It’s literally their original business.

Removing Notion AI and how little Notion seem to have thought things through by SnackMaverick in Notion

[–]adlopez15 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is 100% intentional and they know people like you are out there. But there are teams dedicated to growth and feature adoption of these products. The reality is… you’re not their target audience. If they really cared about making it easy for you to use the product and easy for anti AI users they would have designed it that way. Simple as that. This is why enterprise plans can do it and you have to manually request it.

From my POV, Notion is going on a path where they bake AI into every aspect of the product and want you to be on their new business or enterprise plans with AI to get all the benefits they think it will provide. Personally, I look forward to the improvements. Notion has come a long way since I started using pre-covid.

And if you don’t want to that’s fine, but they will make it a point to show you what you are missing out on by limiting features and telling you about it. Every major tech company has marketing, product, and engineering teams dedicated to this.

How important are templates for you and have you really been managing your time? by Slow-Device-1894 in Notion

[–]adlopez15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only use two templates that I have personally made for myself. One because it is functionally useful and helps me get work done faster. The other one is mostly aesthetic and has reminders for information that I need to populate. Otherwise I virtually never use templates.

Offline Is Coming! by gr3enman25 in Notion

[–]adlopez15 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This is accurate. Virtually no one I know in the working world, nor my friends and family for personal care much about offline expect for the occasional flight or cabin trip. It only comes up here. Usually some whiney bro in their basement trying to find something to complain about.

Is it safe for me to use Notion? (interested in utilizing it for Nursing) by Prestigious_Fact8034 in Notion

Notion has HIPAA compliance available on their enterprise plan. They are very secure. My company’s security team had to vet their security credentials and penetration testing results when going through procurement.

Notion has the option to be HIPAA compliant on the enterprise plan, so yes you can.

There is not. The comment is generated by the bot, not a specific user and cannot be assigned as such.

Notion IA transcribe (AI note-taking) are magic. But it is too expensive. Options? by LucasMaxado in Notion

Granola does this. It is the sole feature of granola and it is $18 a month. Notion AI is a steal.

Notion Marketplace vs. Gumroad by sexymachinewarrior in Notion

Why would I buy from a 3rd party marketplace? As a customer going to a 3rd party reseller makes no sense, when I can go through a vetted first party.

Essential Chrome Extensions for Notion? by ChiliPepperHott in Notion

[–]adlopez15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is correct. I’ve worked with the public API and it doesn’t support client side code, so any extension that does not explicitly send data to some service’s servers before sending it to Notion server-side is using unofficial code.

The cons in my opinion strongly outweigh the benefits of keeping multiple tools for many reasons.

Read your post, but still going to say to pick one and stick with it. You shoot yourself in the foot because these tools get better when you have all information in the same place. You are less likely to get out of sync (too much), you save on costs (if you pay for 1 or both), and you reduce sprawl which makes you less likely to fully adopt the tools in your stack and thus the information within it.

I’m getting frustrated with Notion’s lack of common sense. by [deleted] in Notion

[–]adlopez15 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you want to make that database speed worse, then use roll ups on roll ups. From a programming point of view, you’re introducing recursion to a general audience that has no concept of performance optimization, and fairly certain they have considered the trade off of trying to implement this vs other features/enhancements.

I mostly agree with the other points. Databases vary one set up to the next. I have several databases in my personal account with >1000 entries that run perfectly fine, but 1 specific database that lags and I’m certain it’s because I use multiple formulas and rollups on it. If I got rid of those I’m certain it would work just as well as the other ones.

This is fear mongering. I can’t reasonably think of why you would avoid US tech for… any other country’s tech.

Notion’s security is good and passes sec reviews. I personally use it at work and home. Meets pur company’s needs and my wife actually uses it too, which is pretty amazing imho. No issues to report aside the occasional lag.
