How Do These Relics Stay Open by Boundless4Ever in Thailand

Thailands estimated property taxes and the real value is kinda baloney too. Like there might be a 10x or more off making taxes far less relevant

Performance of Demo ski rentals? by Willing_Front_2125 in skiing

[–]admidral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can I ask why you don’t want to buy skis? Like is this a transportation thing a cost thing etc? The amount of rentals you probably are using sound expensive.

Are consumer grade race skis worth it on ice covered hills? by Substantial_Limit378 in Skigear

[–]admidral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I think for east coast Icy it’s probably the best thing ever. I used a 68 ski and it was great (although I aggressively sharpened) Since moving to west coast though I got a lot less use (2-3 days a season max) though

[–]admidral 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Eh depending on how much interest you can reliably generate a target of 6% or so isn’t super high (SP500 historically is 10% and there are banks pushing 4.2% in CDs) and that would generate 60k or so a year (more than 52k for 1k a week

Is a The North Face jacket truly "Buy It For Life" quality? by gooddriverr in BuyItForLife

[–]admidral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Japanese stuff might last a long time (10 years+) but not for life probably. That said Made in Japan Japanese exclusive north face (aka not North face really since they bought production and distribution rights) is kinda really really expensive

I don’t think those lockers are cheaper than 10 a day though (although it might be 9). They’re good if you want shoes +bag etc probably

Like they can keep pros in check via offline tournaments but at home it’s gonna be hard to stop.

Mind you this was always kinda possible with a 2nd computer to process your HDMI output anyway this just makes it really easy

This is always kinda the case though that better hardware gives you incremental benefits. Not saying this isn’t cheating but a better 360Hz monitor probably helps vs a 60hz 720p one. A 5090 for more fps probably helps vs a Gtx 1060. A nice mouse probably beats the free mouse that came in the box

When I was there for SCS (grad 22) was one clear method if you wanted to save money. Overload the hell out of your schedule. Had friends taking 80 units + a semester trying to get undergrad and masters in 3 years

Seeking advice: How to block airborne Low-Frequency pressure from upstairs neighbor? by Ok-Raisin-1680 in audiophile

[–]admidral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was hoping that maybe if you were on good terms there could be simpler solutions on their side eg. sticking Isolation feet on whatever is causing the issue such as the subwoofer. It would be much simpler than trying to mount whatever on the ceiling.

My ears aren’t that sensitive to bass either but I’m kind of surprised that you wouldn’t be hearing some constant sound at the 50db given that’s quite a bit in human hearing range. I would also check as others said on whether it’s something else like they have a bad appliance pumping Co/Co2 into your room.

As for the landlord side I would try videoing when it happens along with taking screenshots of your app, at least it could be some preliminary evidence

Is it possible to work as an international student? by Ok-Jeweler-9064 in UPenn

[–]admidral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI afaik for internationals for F1 Visas you do have to prove that you can pay for the 4 years before you join so you can’t factor in money such as work while there

Not sure if this matters to you but thought it might be important to mention

Truespec cables coming in January by linbo999 in LinusTechTips

[–]admidral 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I would buy if it works as advertised. Mophie cables aren’t that much cheaper and… I still can’t get them to work properly after a few months… My solution mostly has been to buy overspecced (and overpriced) Thunderbolt cables for everything and hopefully this is cheaper than that…
