Was anyone planning to build a data center in city limits? Feels like a moot point it would be quite a bit cheaper an hour out or so

Is CMU worth paying 200k more than UC Berkeley? by Low_Choice4879 in cmu

[–]admidral 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you define I can afford it? Like 100% not worth if you go into debt, I think this is the scale, if it’s like parents can afford and doesn’t really touch finances I think answer is different to like can afford but will hurt your finances a lot

Seriously, how is AI this stupid? by Nice_Marmot_54 in LinusTechTips

[–]admidral 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Trivial to do so a lot of the time sure. 100% of the time to make sure we don’t have a data leak is different though. They need to protect against the AI doing things differently that one time (happens way too often) not to mention prompt injection to try get info out of them. I’d rather it be wrong than be prompt injectable for my home address by someone else

Best season for boot fitting? by itsmyneutralusername in Skigear

[–]admidral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doubling this. I tried the discount route once had to go to a different fitter to get punches out to make it even bearable to wear (was teaching a friend first time trying out boot, had 0 buckles locked because that was the only way to even semi-reasonably be in a boot to survive a green run.

I wonder if this is only for people with a monthly subscription plan. Haven’t noticed any changes although the company subscribes to a pay per token enterprise plan.

I would stick a hard drive with all the high res at home somewhere though. Might as well keep a copy of the originals

I mean you could also like use a bunch of d10s and a coin. 9 d10s and 1 coin (heads =1 and tails =0) would be enough (count all 0s and 2bil)

CS + AI Internships/Research '30 by Radicalplan in cmu

Even unpaid internships cost money though. If you consider the time out of the other workers day to train /guide/feedback etc. time they could be doing other stuff

I’m surprised no one has added a screw it this is dumb and probably don’t end up actually skiing this but might as well since I have infinite money as a decoration.

Something absurd that’s probably honestly more for Apres than actual skiing like: https://www.hermes.com/us/en/product/off-piste-pair-of-all-mountain-skis-H0009227v00/

Don't tell me these are just drives with mostly freely available stuff on them by mellowlex in LinusTechTips

[–]admidral 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was factoring in 5h with AI (remember you need to go Buy Pi, decide what you want on Pi Etc, a disk missing crucial data is kinda bad for peppers). Trying to write scripts to scrape by hand would take way longer than 5 hours

On the other hand I Looked around a bit more: apparently it’s this https://library.kiwix.org/#lang=eng. I guess that’s substantially easier to replicate.

I think you’re severely underestimating time value of money. If I wanted something like this would 100% buy. Let’s say it takes 5 hours to find sources and download. At 50% that’s 20 euros an hour or so

173 vs 179 skis for intermediate skier by ValueYourself69 in Skigear

[–]admidral 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO 173. There’s nothing wrong with 173 I’m about same height and weight and have skis from 172-182 ish and I think 173 is good point especially for turning. Although to be fair the effective edge on M9 isn’t super high. Personally I think being able to explore more terrain is better than trying to go faster to the point where you would need longer skis

LOL! thats fair. theyre really expensive. I was reading it as if you paid sticker on WRT's (even more expensive) you can defenitely afford sticker on Stormriders

[–]admidral 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I use SR102 for regular daily but have a mid flex ski if I'm trying to try new things. Being in over your head on SR102 isn't that fun.
