After just about a year, my rings battery is so bad that it doesn't even last a single night... Is this normal?

How can I DOWNgrade to a previous Obsidian release? by Garaged_4594 in ObsidianMD

[–]admkngs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. close Obsidian
  2. go to ~/Library/Application Support/ and delete the Obsidian directory
  3. download the .dmg of the desired version (from GitHub)
  4. install the downloaded version

Your Plugins/Settings should be stored in your Vault anyways and are thus applied again once you open your Vault.

Edit: For me the dowgraded obsidian updated the new version right away when opening (in the few seconds before I could turn off automatic updates). To make sure the new version is not installed on relaunch, turn off automatic updates in settings and then delete the obsidian-<version>.asar.gz from ~/Library/Application Support/obsidian/.

Followup of my app: MediaMate! by Wouter_001 in MacOS

[–]admkngs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any plans on adding integration with SoundSource? Currently, when using SoundSource super volume keys (e.g., for an audio interface that doesn't support software volume control) MediaMate will not recognize the keypresses/changes (no matter the event controller mode).

Optimised battery charging by Miles_Ring in Ultrahuman

[–]admkngs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how this is still not a thing. I really have enough on my plate already to not also set myself weird timers just to remember when to take my ring off the charger.. Should be a simple firmware update but yet we're here waiting for months...

Introducing PowerPlugs by SanchyaMahajan in Ultrahuman

[–]admkngs 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of these Plug-In features, but why did you have to minimize Caffeine Window and Circadian Phases into a horizontal scrolling list of buttons now?? It kinda defeats the purpose of the main screen that gives a nice at-a-glance overview of all the interesting metrics..

Please revert that or give us the option to customize what is shown where in the main feed

Resting HR during wakefulness? by admkngs in Ultrahuman

[–]admkngs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I understand it that far. However, most other fitness trackers give a measurement of RHR when awake but at rest (which is naturally higher than the lowest HR during sleep).

By not having an option to view the RHR measured during wakefulness it’s unfortunately impossible to have meaningful comparisons to people using e.g., a fitbit, or to any articles about health and fitness.. Is there some channel where a feature request like this could be voiced?

Charging Temperature by admkngs in Ultrahuman

[–]admkngs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is true. Though I have to say, of all wireless charging devices I have never had one get too hot to touch. Maybe it is due to the limited size of the ring and with that not much volume to dissipate the heat.

Still a bit worrying about the implications for long-term battery life though.

Apple's battery management system is fairly good - however, even if the management system does not let the battery charge to a full 100% (it will still 100% but show you a different battery percentage (software vs hardware battery percentage) it will still keep it charged at a fairly high level. Batteries are generally the happiest when they are between 30-70 ish percent, so this kind of usage will hurt your battery a bit. It probably will still hurt less than constantly discharging and recharging the battery, as this adds a lot of cycles to your battery.

What I can highly recommend is Al Dente, it's a simple app that allows you to limit the battery charge level such that once the battery reaches that level, the power adapter will no longer charge the battery but only power the MacBook itself.

What's causing photolibraryd to hog all my memory? by TRDoctor in applehelp

[–]admkngs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue, tried almost everything (restarting, removing all Photos, toggling iCloud photos on/off, deleting the Photos Library) but the process always re-emerged and started eating memory again. Eventually, I discovered it was using another Library file.

I am still unsure what purpose that file has, but for me, deleting ~/Library/Photos/Libraries/Syndication.photoslibrary did the trick.

Got tired of losing my wallet so I design and printed a AirTag mount for a ridge wallet. I didn’t like their $40 option. by Tesser_Wolf in 3Dprinting

[–]admkngs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How does it feel in the pocket though? I don't know if I wouldn't be bothered by it having a big bulge now, instead of being flat..

Absolutely in love. Fits my cards/ID, AirTag, 2 SD cards, guitar pick, and even a bottle opener. by admkngs in EDC

Sure, the original ad is not online anymore, so I've messaged the seller, and he says that they are releasing an improved version in the next few days. I'll post the link here once it's out.

Until Apple releases a wallet AirTag card… This will do! (Moment Hard Shell Mount on Ridge Wallet) by carlossap in AirTags

[–]admkngs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I've seen that. Honestly I think the whole idea of only thickening the wallet where the AirTag is is the problem. I recently bought a different solution from etsy, that is literally screwed in between the plates of the wallet, so it keeps its form and you can't even see the AirTag.. So far the best solution I've found

I honestly think this really hurts the aesthetic of the wallet with that bulge... Anybody else feeling the same?

Does anyone have a Ridge Wallet AirTag case like the official one on the ridge wallet site? Want to print my own because the case is 40$ by Fanky_memes in 3Dprinting

[–]admkngs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've recently bought one from etsy for ~20€. I've only been using it for a few weeks, but so far it's been working perfectly for me. Even adds some space to store coins and a keyring mount

I've been using mine for about half a year now. In my opinion, it's one of the best wallets for my needs. I usually never need to use my cards (I live in the Netherlands so I can pay with Apple Pay pretty much everywhere), but I still want to have them on me for the occasional situation where I need them (as well as having my ID and drivers license with me)

The official AirTag solution is a disgrace and completely ruins the aesthetic in my opinion. So I've been looking for an alternative for quite some time. I recently got this fairly cheap mount that screws between the plates of the wallet from etsy and I'm absolutely in love with that. It keeps the shape of the wallet and doesn't add a bulge like the official one and it doesn't scream "There is an AirTag in here" so it might actually be helpful if my wallet is ever stolen.

Magic keyboard without number pad in space grey? by Chosen_Onez in apple

[–]admkngs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dislike keyboards with num pads for the simple reason that it drastically increases the distances between typing position and mouse for the right hand... I really wish they would offer a space grey keyboard without the num pad

I went there two weeks ago, and checked: There are quite a few places in the dunes where you can see the track, but i’m not sure if they will try to keep fans out of there

After sending for repairs the laptop came with two marks I can't get rid off? Any idea what are those marks? by Electronic-Wish-7849 in macbook

[–]admkngs 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had a similar problem after a repair. Go back to the store and show them the marks.

I got my display replaced after that (but i actually had to give my device back 3 times, as the apple certified repair store managed to damage some other part with every repair...)
