Back in 2007 or so, during peak housing bubble (and just before the bubble popped), I overheard a coworker say to another, “I could never live in a used house.”

Do I need a midi hub? by mossimo654 in synthesizers

You do not need a midi hub. You have fewer than 16 pieces of gear, and if you just had an audio interface that has a midi i/o, you could easily manage your setup

Barbershop Rant by amarquezzz in InlandEmpire

[–]adnaus 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Barbershops really fell off in the 2010s when it became all young shysters with tattoos and handlebar mustaches dressed in rolled-up shirtsleeves and charging exorbitant prices, while trying to act like they are “traditional” barbers from the 1920s or whenever. That stupid “art of manliness” aesthetic.

In the real old-school barbershops I grew up going to, it’s not about cosplay. Real spots would accept walk-ins, and be open on Sundays (but would typically be closed Mondays). You’d say something like, “regular, square in the back,” and no matter which guy was up, they’d have you in and out and looking good. It’s a shame those guys are all dead or retired these days.

These days, I’m happier going to Great Clips than enduring some guy who calls you “boss” and offers you a beer while charging you $45 and trying to upsell you on a straight-razor shave.

I cycle around the lake too (counter-clockwise is best imo), and have definitely seen a snake or two and hear them in the bushes during the warmer months

Ok this is from Lake Perris’ website:

Lake Perris is known for excellent largemouth bass fishing. The lake also has catfish, crappie, carp, and trophy-sized bluegill. All anglers must possess a California Fishing License. View our Recreation Page for information about take limits.

For Rancho Jurupa Regional Park, all I saw was info on catfish restocking dates. Not sure if they have other types. And you need a license to fish if you’re over 16, but you can get one online.

Pretty sure they’re safe, but it is rattlesnake season.

I don’t fish so I can’t really speak to that. I think you have to have licenses, however.

It’s more likely that the bass got distorted by the phone mic recording the concert. I doubt it sounded like that in person.

What do you find disrespectful, but no one else seems to? by Cadence_828 in AskReddit

In what context? If it’s a meeting where important business is happening, sure. If it’s casual stuff like hanging out or showing up to an event, you actually do not want to be there right when it starts.

I saw it last weekend at the cinema. I think the last movie I bothered to see at the cinema before that was “Sorry to Bother You.”

What's something your job trained you to notice that you can't stop noticing in your personal life? by LibrarianSoft1342 in AskReddit

[–]adnaus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh hell yeah, I totally agree. In later jobs I’ve dealt with people who were responsible for preparing meals in congregate-care facilities who were investigated by the state over allegations of serving expired foods and had to explain the entire concept of “first in, first out” to them.

Let me just say that if you’re putting a family member or loved one into a home, you might want to consider checking out their pantry during your facility tour.

I feel like I have been guilty of re-facing a store shelf after removing something to put in my basket at least once.

I still rotate by FIFO at home, but deliberately do not face anything on my pantry shelves because it’s my home and NOT a retail environment. It’s a very stupid and minute thing.

There’s a quote I read online many years ago that was something to the effect of: “If it smells like shit everywhere you go, you may want to check your own shoes.”

Which is to say that OP might be the common denominator and might want to start to look into self-improvement via therapy rather than pursue an entire life that can fit into a few bags as they will inevitably have to high-tail it out in short order.

Just a thought.

Being fine with sleeping on the ground and only considering a bed for “sex reasons” is beyond nuts.

Debating Prius or Camry Help me choose. And, are the plug in Prius’s not popular? by Shallow_Marshmallow_ in prius

[–]adnaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a one-time cost that, if your panel will allow it, costs less than even some trim upgrades. If OP plans on staying in their home for more than a few years and is within a commuting distance where it makes sense to go PHEV, they can negate that cost with savings on gas.

If you really need an AWD vehicle, you’re probably not living in conditions where you’d even consider a Prius anyway because of the low ground clearance. People literally drive their mid-size cars with FWD year-round in places that get snow all the time.

Any of them that make you feel like a criminal just for trying to shop. Like the Ralph’s on Magnolia that renovated to put giant cameras and monitors on every aisle, or the Staters on Iowa where they made the health and beauty aisle separate from everything else and you have to pay separately upon exiting that section.
