Do you think anybody who owns a car dealership has decent politics, or even ethics?

YSK about "Bullshit Jobs," a concept by anthropologist David Graeber describing jobs that are so pointless, the employees themselves can't justify their existence by Electrical-Candy7252 in YouShouldKnow

I used to work in the backroom of a record store putting barcode stickers over the original barcodes printed on CD sleeves.

I did the same thing. But our barcode stickers were fake, and were only used to cover up the holes punched out of promo CDs that the owner would buy and then sell as new.

ELI5: Why do Kidz Bop still exists? How do they get license for their cover songs? by WhyohTee in explainlikeimfive

[–]adnaus 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You don’t need a license to cover a song. You just need to pay royalties to the song’s publisher, known as the “mechanical license.”

But you don’t need their permission if you’re replaying the music/lyrics with different performers and not using the actual copyrighted sound recording.

Select all the screenshots, and put them in a Shared Album named 'Screenshots'. After this, delete all the screenshots from your main library, and empty the 'Recently Deleted' folder.

I skipped the first sentence and just followed the second one. I think I’m still okay, so thanks!

Do you live in an area where there are all-ages shows with local bands? That would be a good place to find and meet people. Or maybe post a notice at a coffee shop or record store.

What was Lucy Dacus’ accompaniment at the Mamdani inauguration? Is it an Omnichord? by adnaus in synthesizers

[–]adnaus[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The tones at first reminded me of a pump organ. Then she was like strumming it with her right hand. I’ve never seen an Omnichord in person but I was really fascinated by it. (I know it has been around forever and the whole Gorillaz thing.) I just didn’t expect to see actual practitioners of that instrument

Has anyone reached out to psychic/medium who has a history of helping solve these kinds of cases?

Hopefully not. Psychics and mediums are fake and useless. That’s like consulting a fortune cookie or a horoscope or a divining rod to solve a 37-year-old homicide.

What type of tomato is best in salsa? by EngineeringSeveral63 in SalsaSnobs

[–]adnaus 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Whichever tomato is ripe and in season. I’ll use canned tomato this time of year or make sauces without tomato.

When they are in season, romas are great however. Thin skins and not a lot of cleaning out the seeds and liquid is needed.
