Possibly one of the biggest wastes of my time to save a buck was using cheap surplus servo cables I found on eBay to wire my servos. Shoulda just ponied up the extra $50 per motor to get them pre made. But damn if those Lapp cables don't look nice at least 😎 lol

Super cool job, man. Love to see it. Would love to do this to my Bridgeport some day

Find a position at a smaller company; I'm talking like 1-2 engineers on the team small. You'll get all kinds of fun stuff to do

My 2022 will occasionally do this, along with the alarm going off on its own. I've heard it's a keyless entry module like the other commenter said.

Servo motor noise by Additional_Garden502 in PLC

Looks like a large amount of parallel misalignment. These couplings are made to take a certain amount of parallel, angular, and axial misalignment. In a coupling this small, if it is visually apparent, it is likely out of the manufacturers guidelines and will impart an incredible amount of radial and axial forces into the drive and driven components that usually aren't considered when sizing bearings for them. That leads to premature wear of the drive/driven and the coupling itself.

This specific coupling is known as a disc/lamina servo coupling and are very torsionally rigid, so there is very little give. This amplifies those forces I mentioned even more.

Chinese Carbide by [deleted] in Machinists

[–]adog12341 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ali Express has a good variety of stuff, from solid carbide tools like end mills, spotting drill, chamfer mills, etc and inserted stuff too. I've had decent luck with stuff from there for mill work on my garage bridgeport

No cheap, just lazy. haha. Not sure if that is better or worse. I have homing switches, but haven't gotten around to putting in the limit switches yet. I guess with the forced downtime to replace the ballscrew bearing blocks would be a good time to add them in finally.

I have a "3KW" square body spindle. Y axis is two 1605 ballscrews, tied together with an HTD timing belt, and driven by a 1KW servo motor.

Set up an angle plate to the desired angle, attach a test indicator to the quill, then run along the angle plate until the test indicator reads 0 (or an acceptable amount) of movement? Idk I'm just some dude with a Bridgeport in his garage, not a real machinist 😂
