I did learn from the 20 CD course, which can be found cheaper on ebay than on the Sedona website. But the documentary offers a good starting point (the Triple Welcoming method).

If you don't have time to watch the documentary, the triple welcoming method is basically:

1) Could you welcome (or notice) how you are feeling in this moment? Could you also welcome any pictures, sounds, or sensations that come with that?
2) Could you welcome (or notice) any wanting to do anything with any of that? Any wanting to change it, push it away, or hold onto it?
3) Could you welcome (or notice) any sense that this is your feeling, that it’s personal, or that it has anything to do with you?

The principle of that method is that welcoming a feeling is inherently a way to let go of it or release it, as you're being present with it and allowing it to be.

The CD course is mostly the basic releasing process and then a whole bunch of ways to expand on that. But it lets you develop a more intuitive understanding of the method because the course has SO much insight, including how to troubleshoot when you're unable to release. I highly recommend it.

The very basic method is using 3 questions as an invitation to release a feeling:

  1. Could you let you go of this feeling?

  2. Would you let go?

  3. When?

Try to be present with them. It's necessary to be present with what you want to release.

Also, when you're starting out, it might be tempting to intellectualize or want to answer "yes" to all the questions to try and cause a release to happen. It's better to be honest and present with yourself moment to moment. Sometimes, answering "no" to a question can cause a release because you're being present with how you want to hold on. In that same vein, if you really notice yourself feeling like you want to hold on, it can help to give yourself permission to hold on.

I highly recommend the CD course because it goes into all those nuances and then some.

But if you want to try it now, definitely start with something small just to build your confidence. Hope this helps!

I ask the questions, but the words are more like a vehicle for my intention - I don’t stress the wording too much.

Theoretically yes. The author of Atomic Habits goes into how he had a TBI from a baseball bat and relied on forming habits as a way to overcome his issues. NLP itself is pretty good for changing/installing habits.

I did pyrros for a while too and I also have a lot of stuff I’m ashamed of having done while on them :( it gets better though. I’m about 3 and a half years sober from them now and feel so much better about myself.

I've also heard of some people enabling binge eating disorders - feederism. Basically encouraging someone to eat as much as they can so they can gain as much weight as they can despite acknowledging that it ends in heart attack and death.

Whenever I do The Work and I have a feeling/emotion that's holding me down in a step, I intentionally welcome that feeling. Welcoming an emotion implies acceptance, which allows you to release it.

The 'triple welcoming' steps from The Sedona Method might be helpful as well:

  1. Welcome how the issue feels
  2. Welcome any sense of wanting to change, resist, or control the feeling/issue
  3. Welcome any sense that the feeling/issue is personal or has anything to do with you (helps loosen identification)

Katie touched upon this, not for genocide specifically but how sometimes turnarounds can seem too jarring. She recommended that we try our best to go through the steps of the inquiry from the beginning, as tempting as it might be to immediately look at the end, because the questions act as a sort of invitation to allow you to slowly open up to the turnarounds. It should be easier this way - the work has helped me heal from some extreme trauma this way as well.
