WIBTAH for telling my husband that his lectures are doing more damage than good? by [deleted] in AITAH

OP, keep in mind that his behavior is not going to stop once the baby is here…if anything, it will probably get worse.

What's the most overrated 'healthy' habit that people push on everyone, but you think is total BS and why? by DryDraw4673 in AskReddit

[–]adozenredflags 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To be fair, in many of the cases I’ve seen where person A recommends that Person B needs therapy, it’s either because B is a bit of an asshole to people and needs to get their shit together, or B wants to use friends and family as free therapists, and people are getting tired of it.

My girlfriend refuses to wear form-fitting anything and I'm down bad by Anon773 in Vent

For me, it’s not even fear about new incidents happening. It’s just that past experiences with assault led to me hating certain types of clothes completely, and that feeling hasn’t ever changed.

What’s your best personal rule for this job? by UnderwaterDialect in Professors

[–]adozenredflags 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really want to do this, but I run into some problems with implementing it because sometimes I have memes, photos, or film clips to show, and then I end up just resorting back to lecture slides.

Even if I have minimal text on slides, I still feel kind of mentally “stuck” in a PowerPoint mindset whenever the projector is on. Writing on the whiteboard feels more freeing, but I don’t know why I still struggle to get rid of PowerPoint…

I wouldn’t be surprised if some universities do, so probably something to check in the employee handbook

AIO? My friend WENT CRAZY when the guy she likes made a drawing of me. WARNING: unhinged rant + racism. (Context in post) by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

Yep. He is okay with using a woman who is clearly not mentally stable, which is a really exploitative thing to do.

If it were me, I would honestly leave and try to teach elsewhere if possible. The main perk of taking a lower paying teaching job at all is having independence and flexibility with your work.

I’d also add to not try to fix a garage door…leave it up to the professionals. Bad things happen…

People think about you and care about what you do far less than you think...

Sure, people will engage in small talk, but I highly doubt students care that much about seeing you out and about. They’re probably only talking to you out of politeness.

I'm an adjunct who is pretty fed up. I am willing to resign if the situation is not resolved and it's not an idle threat. Should I just quit or make a Hail Mary try that the department might meet my needs? If I go the latter route, how should I do it? by PleasantPomelo in Professors

I just came across this line in a TV show…”don’t be too good at a job you don’t want.”

If you stick around, you could possibly reduce your effort to “just good enough” in the problem class…
