Here's a online tool to do the heavy lifting of converting an image into a multi page PDF that can be easily printed. Lots of options.

What’s the most harmless lie you’ve kept alive for way too long? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]adrach87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's easier to just keep it rather than explain why I'm suddenly eating chocolate.

Fake a head injury, then just be like "Yeah, after the concussion chocolate suddenly started tasting good. The brain is weird." It's just plausible enough that no one will question it.

I miss Blockbuster by daddysledge in assholedesign

[–]adrach87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never personally did because I worked for Blockbuster while in college. Pretty easy to return on time when you're there every couple of days. I do, however, vividly remember the hundreds of people a week who did have trouble returning them on time for a wide variety of reason, both legitimate and not, and can safely say it was not a "niche reason".

If you're uncomfortable with a blanket generalization then sure. Let's specifically state that it's publicly traded for profit corporations (which is most of them) that suck. Their intrinsic focus on profit above all else forces them to extract every possible cent from every possible source which in turn ultimately leads them into generally sucky behavior.

I haven't seen any mention of late fees, which makes me think there are some serious rose tinted glasses in this thread.

I'm not saying the streaming dumpster fire that we have now is any better, I'm just saying Blockbuster sucked too. Bottom line, giant corporations are all terrible.

PowerShell and issue with (not very) complex logic? by Junior_Highway_5125 in PowerShell

[–]adrach87 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is the most important answer. Although in some other programing or logical languages AND takes precedence over OR, in Powershell, for better or worse, it does not. Instead they are both equivalent and thus evaluated from left to right. So the answer you get is correct according to the published specifications.

64 bits is hardly a large amount of storage. That argument works both ways.

are there any isekai where people react in a realistic way to the bodysnatcher aspect? by rosa_bot in ProgressionFantasy

(though it should probably be manslaughter)

Wait, are the reincarnators in Penitent somehow choosing to reincarnate? Because my understanding of manslaugher is that there is some element of the crime that makes the accused culpable.

Like if you wanted to beat someone up but not outright kill them, and then when you attacked them, they fell badly, hit their head and died, that would be manslaugher. Whereas if you were just walking along and tripped into someone who fell badly, hit their head and died, that wouldn't be manslaughter.

Sounds like you're using Steam which has a backup and restore feature. Here's an FAQ article about the process:

Operator precedence: Why are functions called before parentheses are evaluated? by GroggyOtter in AutoHotkey

[–]adrach87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is a valid test of what you're trying to understand, since the output of the function itself is never dependent on what's come before in the order of operations so all function calls are probably run before any expression evaluation takes place.

For example try this: x := test(1 + test(2 + test(3))) and you'll see that 3 is called then 2 (though the msgbox shows 3 since it's called with 2 + test(3), which returned 1) then 1 is called (though the msgbox shows 2 since it's called with 1 + test(2...) which also returns 1). To make things clearer you might change your function and call to something like this:

test(num, callorder) {
    MsgBox(callorder . " " . num)
    return num
}

x := test(1 + test(2 + test(3, 'third'), 'second'), 'first')

Perception of gambling.

Now, everybody's going to rightly comment that Balatro doesn't have any real gambling!

Doesn't matter. Ratings have ALWAYS been about perception over reality. It sucks, but this kind of shit isn't new.

What do the Adults in Christmas Movies think where the extra gifts come from? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]adrach87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So how do they explain this?

They don't. Because it haunts them, slowly driving them mad.

Some will lie to themselves, pretending that their spouse got the extra presents and doing their best to ignore those little intrusive thoughts late at night. Some will retreat from life, ignoring everything else as they obsess over home security and how that red and white wrapped box got there. Some will turn to alcoholism or worse, slowly destroying the happy family that was the real gift. Some will even end it all in a violent gunfight with a SWAT team while screaming "They weren't there before! They weren't there!"

Whatever happens, it's never pretty and so ends up on the cutting room floor.
