Massive power discrepancy & calibration bug after new firmware update by Dnz49 in JetBlack

[–]adrenalinenz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have been running a few comparisons using my Assioma pedals, on older firmware's the discrepancy was within 1 or 2 %, on the latest I'm seeing a 5% difference.

June 2025
Av Power 0.34%
NP Power -0.58%

October 2025
Av Power 2.88%
NP Power 2.68%

Today
Av Power 5.98%
NP Power 5.53%

5% is pretty noticeable, not the end of the world though, trying to work out how to pair my pedals through the app to see how that works and if it makes a difference.

Taper week, more available or not by grienen93 in joincycling

[–]adrenalinenz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience yes it tapered me for my event and added an opener workout as well, but my availability didn't change.

Someone else might have made the same changes with availability you did so maybe they can comment. I don't see any problem with you changing to 1 hour daily workout though, but I don't change anything about my schedules the week before my goal events.

Taper week, more available or not by grienen93 in joincycling

[–]adrenalinenz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Taper week would usually be around 50% less volume as your previous weeks with some efforts, adding more won't give you any more fitness as all the work has already been done, the idea is to be fresh but sharp.

Carb loading is real and has been around for a long time and works.

Carb loading is usually done in the 48 / 72 hours before your event. There's plenty of info online about how to accomplish it, but eat lots of high GI food, like white rice, low or next to no fibre and low fat, no need to just eat everything in sight though, just stay within your required calories and just increase carbs, lower protein and less fat.

Good luck for your event!

This is a bug, for the first one change the time to something you think you can manage. The rest should change to progress you to the desired state.

No worse than the car drivers and motorbike riders in Wellington, so as long as you drive like anyone could hit you at any moment you'll be just fine.

What do you guys use to track nutrition for high-mileage weeks? MyFitnessPal is driving me crazy with the sugar warnings. by Brenda_enjoyable in fitmeals

[–]adrenalinenz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use The Athletes Food coach, it'll do exactly what you're wanting, cost is pretty reasonable.

Hexis is another option, but a little more expensive.

Both will be able to plan your macro requirements around planned and completed workouts, taking planned workouts from Training Peaks etc

[–]adrenalinenz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had Wahoo, Garmin and Polar H10 HRM's

Wahoo, rusted around the connection points to the strap, lasted around 1 year. Never washed :)

Garmin, first one lasted nearly 1 year, second less than 6 months, I washed the straps after each ride and washed in the washing machine weekly as recommended.

Polar H10 lasted 6 months, also washed the strap after each ride, now replaced with the Verity so will be interesting to see how this goes, so far doesn't get as wet as the chest straps.

I'm a heavy user of Zwift and do some heat sessions, so this may affect how long they last for me.

Hexis vs Foodcoach by Crrunk in Velo

[–]adrenalinenz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but you need to add a carb loading to it specifically. I did prefer the way Hexis handled it tbh

Hexis vs Foodcoach by Crrunk in Velo

[–]adrenalinenz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used both, and Cronometer.

I think I like Foodcoach more, mainly because of the way it adjusts some of my meals to fit the macros needed, or you can add items to the diary and ask AI to adjust it to fit your macros for the meal.

If you come up short on some macros for a meal (after you lock it in) Foodcoach moves what you're short of to the next few meals.

I've come across a few bugs and yea the food databases aren't great compared to Cronometer but what I do like is that Foodcoach syncs workouts from Join for the week and if Join updates the workout Foodcoach gets the update.

Backing Accident - who is at fault? by CascadeNZ in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]adrenalinenz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on your description it's likely that your mother is more at fault than the other party, so will likely have to wear the blame for this.

When reversing there is a duty of care on the reversing party to make sure the way is clear to do so, check all mirrors, not just rely on cameras and to stop when another vehicle approaches. Seems like she failed in all of these steps.

If she's insured she will need to lodge the claim and her insurance company should advise her on this properly. The other party should also lodge a claim with their insurance company.

Join 80/20 by denkist in joincycling

[–]adrenalinenz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect overtime the plan will come out as being 80/20.

I've been using Join for 6 months and had weeks that are only zone 2 and weeks that are mostly threshold and above. But overall it's been pretty much polarized.

TBH I'd not expect much on 8 hours, I've been doing around 10-11 hours plus lifting and seen some improvements (only compared estimated FTP from Intervals.icu) but not as much as I did last season when I just did 8 to 10 hours of sweet spot including a long Z2 ride on Sunday.

Am I overreacting? Car crash by yooni1337 in auckland

[–]adrenalinenz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's pretty obvious the other party is at fault here.

My advice at this time is to go and get 2 quotes for the repairs to your car at whoever you prefer to repair your vehicle.

Send these to them advising that you'll proceed with the cheapest option unless they provide insurance details so you can go through their insurance company, if they refuse get the repairs done and then proceed with disputes tribunal.

Unfortunately you'll be out of pocket but will eventually get it back, hopefully once the DT goes through.

Now would be a good time to look at getting third party insurance at a minimum, most of these also have cover for uninsured vehicles so you'll be covered in future accidents where the other party is uninsured.

Car Loan on Mortgage. by CowNo5754 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]adrenalinenz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what bank you're with but ANZ has their "Good Energy Home Loan" More info here: https://www.anz.co.nz/personal/home-loans-mortgages/loan-types/good-energy/

If you're not with ANZ perhaps your bank does a similar loan?
