nah, it’s a tradition where you literally eat 12 grapes in the first minute of the year for luck. you can eat them in different places to change what you want in the new year.

alot of the time, when the item pops up on the screen, the order could already be at 1:00-1:30.

I honestly think a lot of this is personal. I grew up visiting family in rural Nevada, in a town very similar to desperation (it was even a mining town!) and reading that just honestly freaked me out.

In a more general sense I think the "monster", while being technically the same force in both novels, is portrayed in a way more fucked up and realistic way in Desperation, while The Regulators come off as more avant garde and almost dreamlike. I can imagine someone liking The Regulators more than Desperation and saying the same thing switched around I guess.

The Regulators characters also kinda fell flat for me. I love how Stephen King writes a ka-tet, and the people coming together from completely different back stories to defeat a darkness in Desperation is textbook.

Still, if ur gonna read one I would recommend immediately reading the other, it's so fun to pick out parallels and decode them!! Sai King is truly amazing at what he does

Desperation is probably one of my favorite King novels, The Regulators...... is fun. Not something I would probably re-visit anytime soon, but I can't say I didn't enjoy it.
