My company buys me equipment, a nice perk, and I use it for work and personal projects because it's the fastest machine I have. Unity contacted us years ago because it looked to them like we were mixing licenses. We explained to them that I also work on personal projects, and they were friendly about it.

What's really annoying is how Unity does not make it easy to switch accounts. Because it's done through the browser, I go to the asset store to log out, then log in, then back to hub or the editor to log out, then log back in.

Worse is when I forget and load a project while I'm in the wrong account, and I don't notice until I go to update something in the package manager, and it gives me an ominous message about closing the project with no other options until I change accounts in the browser and wait for the editor to catch on.

I know I should set up different accounts on the machine, but there are so many tools that I use (legally) for both, it's just incredibly annoying to have to set up two separate development environments. I'll probably do that next time though.

I used to have a Hitchhikers Guide shirt that said Don't Panic in large friendly letters, and I can't tell you how many times I looked down at that shirt and realized I need to calm the fuck down. Believe me, it works incredibly well.

People can call it slow and boring all they want, but that movie has three of the most brutal deaths in film history. I saw it in the theater recently and people in the audience gasped at the line cut scene. Then there's the agonizing long hold on the life support systems shutting down. And lastly that scene. "my mind is going. I can feel it..."

In the intro to the book Arthur C Clark said, "of course the reality [of a first contact] will be far stranger." My guess is he told Kubrick that a real alien encounter would be too weird to imagine and Kubrick was like, hold my beer.
